Usually I do change my own oil using Mobil 1 0W40 European Formula and have had great results with my 02 C240. Today I was in a dire need of an oil change (1300 km overdue) from the regular FSS recommendation of 8,000 km interval, and didn't have the time to do it myself or go into my regular indy shop.

I called upon the new Mobil 1 Quick Lube and drove up and requested the Mobil 1 0W40, I was impressed the service center manager knew how much oil to put in and the correct o rings on the filter and such. They filled up and I drove away with no problem. Now that I am at home i recall seeing them fill up with bigger container (usually the 0W40 comes in the 1 L) and had the sudden flashback to seeing delvac written on the box they walked by with. I think they might have filled my car with Mobil 1 Delvac 0W40, after doing some research it is a heavy duty diesel oil that has API certification. for gas and mixed fleet use.

Will this cause major issues or should i go back up to the center tomorrow and demand they change over my oil again ?

Delvac 1 0W40 http://www.imperialoil.com/Canada-Englis..._1_ESP_0W40.pdf
is a very high quality oil with probably very similar base oil to the 0W40 you've been using. But this particular Delvac 1 has a low TBN (7.7) as opposed to the 0W40 you've been using (11.8)
That said, your oil change interval is quite short and it is likely the alkaline reserve of even 7.7 won't get used up.
If they did this, they certainly didn't do it to save money.

Delvac is still a good oil. I wouldn't bother.

In all due respect your request was for Mobil 1 0W-40, so you can't really get on their case for thinking you were referring to Delvac.

That being said, you still got an alright combo; stick with it.

Agreed. The TBN is a bit higher in the Delvac 1 ESP 5w-40. Considering the cost of Delvac 1 (any variety), they certainly didn't do it to save money over the specified M1 0w-40.

The Delvac 0w40 is a pretty good product. I think it will work well for you. It's not even available in the US.

I would be curious to see a UOA on this in a gasoline motor.

Thanks Everyone, I agree they didn't do it out of being cheap. Honest mistake and I was sure they would fix it if i requested. Thanks For you help, I thought it was gonna be okay but reassurance is always good. Cheers.

Well, to be honest, if I were hypothetically located somewhere that had no specified oil available, Delvac 1 ESP in 5w-40 or 0w-40 would probably be my first and second choices for an application like yours.
