I'm looking for a new 5w30 conventional for the fleet that I maintain.
I'm looking for best bang for the buck from Walmart in a 5qt jug.
Just curious which is thought of as the stouter oil, and which of the 2 you would pick and why ?
Application will be 3-5k oci in a non sludger engine.
For various cars that I maintain. (too many to list) They are both the same price at Walmart.

Thanks,
Justin

I'd use the Green Bottle but then again I'm partial to SOUPUS. You can pick up a case of Kendall GT-1 syn blend at AZ for $38 and some change. Can't beat a synthetic blend at $3.16 a quart.

We use Mobil Clean 5000 in our Crown Vic 4.6
We change it around 5000 miles.

The previous owner used quaker state and IMO,it wasn't the cleanest lookin motor inside.Since we've switched to mobil clean it's cleaned alot of the junk outta the motor, just our experience.

im voting quaker state. ive read on here that mobil clean 5000 shears more easily or something like that.... maybe someone with a better memory then mine can chime in with more on that

There is no way to reason this question - pick the cheapest one for the fleet. I would go to a Discount club and get Formula Shell. You looking to buy in pails or Drums?

Arco, they are the same $$, and Formula Shell is more expensive in cases. (even at BJ's)

Pennzoil, Quaker State, Mobil, Valvoline...will all do well for you as there is minimal differences in them. Whichever is least expensive at the time of purchase would probably be the best one.

Now, if you were comparing AMSOIL to a conventional for the same price then we would have a definite opinion. :)

I'd go with QS Green Bottle. I believe the boron rich additive pack makes it slightly superior to MC5K.

I also like the green bottle better

The ownership of the big multinationals is a little murky, but I just abandoned 30 years of Pennzoil for Mobil. Anytime it is at all close, I try to buy American.

Very good stuff, although it's usually $10-12/gallon around here.

I opted for QS in my wife's Windstar 168,000 miles ago. Sucker for the 250,000 mile warranty - what the heck. Six years later I can eat off the engine internals, and zero oil between 4k OCI. Count me a convert. Can't say it's any better than Mobil, but I don't regret my choice. 250,000 troublefree miles are within sight. Now if they'd just bring back SuperBlend green.
