I love it... buy a high end oil at a high end price and then 'fix' it yourself! Genius.

Lubro Moly products are highly respected In the the BMW, Audi and Porsche communities. Your point?

FWIW, Mos2 made my Oil look like Caramel Swirl, all sorts of Funky. I am lucky it "Stayed in the Oil" and didnt make nastiness all over my engine, i used the can in 2 shots if 1/2 a can on Hot, then 1/2 can again on Hot.

I will not be using it again. Its either IN the Schaeffers 132 (Different Moly,) In the Oil, or not in my Engine.

Mos2 poured like Grease, made the Oil an Olive color, and made my Idiot mechanic think i had Water in my Oil from the way it looked coming out. I had to explain that "I put this can of Moly stuff in."

It did run super smooth on the 1/2 can, though. Now i dont trust it.

Lubro Moly products are available at NAPA. 6 liters of their 10w40 blend oil with Mos2 was abut $36. Very good products. The Mos2 additive just makes oil look a bit wierd. Ran super smooth eh? That should have told you something.

IIRC, all RL grades except 5W-40 and 15W-40 (CJ-4s) contain ~950 ppm moly according to Dave.

From what I've been told RL doesn't use any MoS2 in their oils, they claim the moly they use is an organic moly.

I respect you, Russell!!

..but from what you posted ...it sounded like you were buying it pre-blended.

I've never used the stuff, but with a neat name like that, and prices to match, how can one go wrong?

I'm not sure what you put in your engine but it does not sound like the lubromoly MoS2 that I have used. Sure it's thick but grease? Maybe you should dump your idiot mecahnic and DIY

Yes, the can came from NAPA..

And it ran super smooth on 1/2 can of the greasy Moly.

Im debating whether or not to go back to what i had in there, or put Redline in it and THEN add half the can of Mos2. Sounds like a winner, and the Oil will still look weird.

One can made the Oil look like the engine had a mechanical problem, and scared us all, particularly me, the Owner!

Seems you DONT use the whole can of Mos2..... And what does Insoluble mean?

Also, as for the "Greasy" Look:
Moly is a processed mineral that is similar in appearance to graphite. " from thread https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/posts/1975155/

After a quick read, i think if i put half a can into a nice batch of RedLine 15W-50 the Oil will look weird and all will be well!

I'd be interesting to email Red Line and ask their opinion of that. I'll bet a beer they recommend that you not do it.

Basically the RL 15W-50 is fine and Moly'd up by itself, no Mos2 needed?

The weird color would put me off.

This has gone from a Mobil 1 bash to a Red Line, Lubro Moly topic.

Good time for a lock since its way off topic (and what a topic it was)

Any comments PM me,
