Yes...notice also that the SuperTech is only SN while the Mobil 1 is SQ.Buy the Mobil 1, the end.
Yeah, I would also consider them a more vital company …The Mobil would need to be 20% or more expensive for me to choose SuperTech over Mobil 1 Personally.
Nothing against SuperTech, I just prefer Vertically Integrated XOM as they are able to provide insanely good performance for value due to their market position and economy of scale.
Case in point, The Mobil 1 ESP line is a phenomenal primarily PAO/Ester base oil with an awesome additive package for $25-28 per 5qt at Walmart.
Please, help me see the threat.
I agree. It seems SuperTech is threatened by Mobil 1, if anything. Please, help me see the threat.
Sounds crazy, but I really don't think XOM gives a rat's crapper about beating the price of a Warren Oil sub brand. It ain't like Porsche and GM have executives in a boardroom where they are considering using SuperTech as factory fill in their engines.Yes...notice also that the SuperTech is only SN while the Mobil 1 is SQ.
Just funny that SuperTech was $1 less and XOM dropped their price to beat SuperTech by $1
Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 and bunch of other Mobil oils (except ESP) are on $25 sale for 5 qts for at least a year. This is probably Walmart trying to move product not a Mobil rebate or discount unless otherwise stated.
One has actual manufacturer approvals and the other does not.Yes...notice also that the SuperTech is only SN while the Mobil 1 is SQ.

So SuperTech cleans better than Mobil 1?I've used both SuperTech and Mobil 1 in my cars, in my Crown VIc, with the 4.6l engine, the Supertech gives the motor a different sound, it clatters a bit when first started after its sat for a while, it don't do that on Mobil 1.
SuperTech also gets dirty faster, at 4K its well past its time for a change, while with Mobile 1 the oil looks good even beyond 5k. I still dump it at 5k but I never felt I could let the SuperTech go that far.
I did buy a 15 gallon barrel of Supertech 10W-30 Synthetic for small engine use but I'll stick to Mobile 1 for my cars and trucks.
I don't know if it cleans better or not but with Mobile one the oil doesn't get that burnt smell at 4k. The Supertech smelled old or burnt, as if it had been in there for 10k or more. With Mobile 1 there's nothing to 'clean'. I had my doubts if the Supertech was really pure synthetic. It doesn't feel the same between your fingers as Mobile one, the same weight oil feels thinner and less slippery somehow. It reminds me more of the Motorcraft Synthetic Blend oil that Ford sells. So SuperTech cleans better than Mobil 1?
