No, only A1.

Not too weird. One being GF4 one not.

Same as 'Black Cap' Rotella I posted about, that oil not being GF4 and being ACEA E7 thus having an HT/HS > 3.5

A5 is spec'd for extended drains right??

Amsoil XL 5w30/10w-30 also only meet A1. I'm not sure why both don't meet A5.

Mobil 1 0w30 is fine for long drains, but just like the 20wt oils, it only meets A1. It's clearly designed for the best fuel economy. I don't know why it doesn't meet A5, but Amsoil's XL line doesn't either.

Mobil 1 5w30 meets the Corvette spec, 4817M, but only A1. I'd surmise the A5 is more stringent than the Corvette spec.

A5 doesn't necessarily mean "better oil" though. Mobil 1 5w30 is factory fill in the Acura RDX because it was the only oil to produce zero deposits in Honda's new turbo.

...and the Mobil 1 Truck and SUV version would be...better or worse? How about compared to an oil like DuraBlend?

The 0w30 would work great in your motor.

Thanks for the input! Do you have a reason for your opinion? I was wondering if this oil would help quiet the infamous "timing chain rattle" What about this A-1 vs A-5 business?

I had the timing chain rattle once, but it was because the timing chain tensioner broke (the infamous problem...lol). I replaced the tensioner with the much stronger upgraded version, and the noise went away. After oil changes it makes the noise for about 1 second and immediately goes away. I have 170K miles. I don't know if you changed yours but...if you didnt than you may need to have it checked.

I am gonna try this stuff, so I was wondering what should my base OCI be for a first run of this?

would this be going in your '01 HD ???

I have an older jug of Mobil 1 Truck and SUV 5w30 and it does not say A5, rather A1.

Mobil needs to tighten up their listed specs. No excuse for not having A5 on any and all of their "fool" synthetic oils.
