Mobil 1 green cap 0-W30

True, they should be more clear but I would say Mobil is the most straightforward when it comes to listing specifications MET.

No excuse for any 30 weight synthetic oil not to carry A5 or A3. imo, that's why the spec was created, to define that level of performance. Castrol, are you listening? Valvoline does it, Pennzoil does it and Mobil does it, to an extent.

Only a few 30wt oils meet ACEA A3, which require a HT/HS of 3.5. Only Mobil 1 ESP 5w30 and 10w30 HM meet ACEA A3.

I'm not sure why the bottles of Mobil 1 5w30 say ACEA A1/B1 A5/B5 and the website doesn't. That is something that doesn't make sense.

It's down to Mobil consistent inconsistency of technical document maintenance.

I would start out short,maybe a 3-5,000 mile OCI to see how it
likes it,do a used oil analysis then go from there..

forgot to ask how much towing(and weight) will the truck see??

During the 0w30 run it will see minimal towing if any. I just changed oil recently, so probably not gonna be able to run this to fall. But if I was to tow it would be maybe at the most 3000 lbs in 5000 oci.

I think you'll be just fine with it then,my fleet of GM cars
love the stuff,been running the 0w30 grey cap and no issues to
date,next winter i'll use the green cap.

try a 3-5,000 run and go from there,the only problem you may
have is some consumption if you do a long OCI,but hard to say,i don't seem to have any..

$5.00+ per quart I would say 10,000 miles paying the $$$ only to change it at 3to5,000 miles doesn't make any sense..

For a trial run is what were talking about here,to see how(UOA) the
truck likes it.

obviously you'd go longer with this type of oil..re-read the posts.

I believe Mobil 1 keep changing formulations, my personal experience with Mobil 1, the oil contained in bottle that has the A5 certification lasts longer than the one which doesn't. However my criteria of last longer is just based on how long the engine get quiet after first start in the morning and how quiet the engine in the normal operating temperature.

The A1-only oil normally after 5000 miles will take 20-25 seconds(when oil is new, it take less than 10 seconds) before the engine get quiet and the engine becomes noticeably noisy on the normal operating temperature.
The A5 oil only start showing the same symptom after around 7000 miles.
