If Mobil really wanted to go for it, they could bring the viscosity down into the 9.7 cSt range like the Havoline DS oils instead of 11 cSt hot and then you'd definitely see some across the board improvements that'd be even more noticable, and could use a lower VI oil to help fight shear.

I think Mobil 1 has been reading these forums. They release a 0w30 and put a GREEN cap on it. What BITOGer wouldn't be attracted to something green with 0w30 on the label?

A1 probally allows a little lower HT/HS to compensate for shearing and/or lamer base oils. A5 is the long-drain spec, usually requiring a super-premimum formulation.
As much as I embrace this oil on it's coolness and desirability, what does it take to get an A5 Mobil product? I'm sure Mobil 1 Extended Performance could do it, but do they list the spec on it? Whay even bother with A1, that's top-off oil for an old Fiat, imo.

A lot of talk about ACEA A1/B1 or A5/B5. Mobil 1 0w30 meets GM4718M, a fine testament for proving a high performance oil. There are many slight differences between ACEA A1/B1 or A5/B5 which can be seen by studying this document below. Of course all it takes is one criteria not met to not meet a spec.
