Mobil 1 Extended Performance filters.

Got one of these on a AAP $29.99 special; is 15K reasonable with this filter? I am assuming it is not an Amsoil type extended drain filter. The Mobil 1 filter website doesn't even appear to make suggestions (e.g. 2x mfg interval)

Mobil says they are good for 15k/1yr.

I started using these filters when they first came out in the 90s and they are a great filter. As for 15,000 miles, that shouldn't be a problem as long as your engine doesn't have sludge in it to start with.

No sludge in this motor. 15K is perfect since that covers the rest of my Redline stash with some top off.

Ive used them to 8K before and they looked like new in side,no pleat distortion ADBV flexible,could easily do 15k yes.

I've used then and like them. I get mine as part of the OC specials, teamed up with PP. Very well made filters and should easily do 15K OCI.

Agree - so long as your engine starts off clean, 15K should be a breeze.

I just cut open a friend's that had 11.5K on it. Mechanically, it was as good as new. Wish I had a way of checking how 'clogged' it is by measuring flow.

Any filter will do 15k ..assuming that the service is conducive to 15k. If you're doing 15k/year ..your cheapest filter will manage it. Now if you're doing 6k/year, NO filter should be used for 15k (extreme to make the point).

Has anybody done any real testing on a filter after being in use for a while? It bothers me that filters I have removed and left set base down still have oil in them a week or 2 later. If they aren't clogged up, shouldn't the oil slowly flow through the media and out the outlet?

i would say NO,,Ive had filters in service for YEARS that upon dissection and inspection have look good no issues i could see with the naked eye. time dont bother me one bit.

Matter of fact i had a filter that was off my buddys 88 camaro that was in storage for 6 years! and the filter looked fine yet when i cut her open.
