One of our company vehicles is a 1996 F150 with the 4.9L I6 with ~75000 miles.
My first time personally changing the oil/filter (after an unknown OCI schedule/oil type) was to Mobil 1 Extended Performance High Mileage 5w30 and this FL-1‐A filter in May 2025, with the intention of doing annual oil changes, for two reasons: the odometer is impossible to read, and the truck only racks up maybe 2k miles a year. A few mile round trip once or twice a week is about all it does.
I was quite surprised at the amount of carbon and grit caught in this filter, it makes me wonder if every filter had this in it (this is the first I've cut) or if the Mobil 1 was cleaning it up.
The rest of the filter was in great shape. I didn't originally plan on doing a true C&P so sorry for the lack of pictures.

Plan going forward is a 6mo OCI to monitor carbon and to offset the shorter trips.
