It just occurred to me...This oil (even its viscosity range) is targeted to European vehicles. It has German automaker approvals from Porsche, MB and VW. If I remember correctly, it is illegal in Germany to label an oil as synthetic if it contains Group III base oils. This would leave Groups 4 and 5 to market an oil as 100% synthetic. The Germans - don't mess with their beer or their engine oil - they have to be pure. So that might explain partially why the base oils in ESP 0W-30 probably consist of primarily Groups 4 and 5 base oils.

Perhaps someone that understands current German laws can correct me if I am wrong.

This oil is not "API SQ Rated" It does however pass all API SQ Engine testing requirements.

Not sure. But this isn’t Germany, and things get different packages and labels depending on where it’ll be sold.

You are correct. In Germany an oil can be labeled as "synthetic" only if the oil's base stock is a group 4 or 5. Check out the German LiquiMoly website. Nowhere does the website say "synthetic."

Not anything to do with the VOA, but it’s good to see the numbers. I haven’t used a high end euro spec oil in my fiesta ST yet and I’ve heard only great things about this oil. I’ve been using the black bottle Castrol edge 5w30.

Viscosity can vary from one batch to the next. Also, Blackstone is terrible for accuracy
