Amsoil uses D2896 for TBN on their spreadsheet and it shows 8.4?

D4739 usually reads a point or two lower, but this seems unusually low.

I wish they had used the D2896 test protocol for this sample. It measure a total base number with a stronger acid as opposed to the less effective hydrochloric bath.

At least it has a nice dosage of Boron.

There are oils with even less Moly. See the Liquimoly Leichtlauf VOA @TiGeo posted.

SS does not meet these specifications. For one, the HT/HS is too low.

Can’t pass LL01FE. But, Amsoil knows better.
This is LL04 oil.

I am thinking about running it in my 22 Gladiator 3.6. I have ran Amsoil Signature Series 5w30 and 0w30. The Pentastar seems to run quieter on a slightly thicker oil. Thoughts? Anything to be cautious about?
