They are not about to downgrade the quality of the product and risk some of that profit...and that's just the way it is, folks!

Which explains the reason they're are now bringing back M1 Red Cap. Yeah right.

Well, I do think the quality has dropped already, mainly from a anti-wear perspective. I don't attribute this to using Group III though. It could no doubt be an even better product, although it did hold it's own even in Amsoil's own testing. So who the eff knows....

Until all those contracts with some of the most prestigious engine builders drop M1, I'd have confidence in that product for years to come. You have to realize that also that formulations constantly change and some are better than others at various points in time. 3.5 years ago Amsoil wasn't as good as M1 IMHO. The table has turned.

The regular M1 says "Fully" synthetic. The M1 EP does not.

Katech, the engine builders for the C6-R engine use Mobil 1 in their street 427 engines... if it's good enough for those engines it's good enough for me.

And when I can get it for $3-4 per quart (as I can get PP, usually), it'll be good enough for me too.

Keeping in mind that from what we know, it appears that the changes (dare I call them "downgrading") to the M1 formula are a relatively recent development. It will be interesting to see how M1 and it's "endorsements" hold up. And even if they do, I will still have a problem with this "bait and switch." Almost nobody would accept such ingredient shenanigans with the food they eat, but somehow, when it comes to engine oil, the corporate apologists appear in force. Sorry, but I am, and will remain, absolutely unbending in my insistence that my product suppliers be honest with me about what it is they are offering for sale.

You make very valid points. I was thinking about this today in relation to food. I am very much in favor of full disclosure of food ingredients. They were talking about how Pepsi is now going to disclose how many mg of caffeine are in their products. I think that is a good thing. I'm not sure whether this relates completely to the M1 issue, but I do think it's a similar issue. So in that case, more disclosure would be better.
