I'm not "trolling" you guys at all. I do t even know what that means but I have seen the mention of "trolling" in posts.

I can admit that only having one vehicle is reason for strict mindset that I have. If I had another vehicle to back up the one I have, I highly doubt I would even know what BITOG is...I have learned a lot from you guys thus far don't get me wrong.

How do I go about finding out what UOA is for my oil?
I do find just about everything automotive to be of intrest to me and i really thank you guys for the info

Also, take a look in the automotive UOA section of this forum. Do a search for Honda. Refine your search if you can (the search here is not great)

Or simply google your car your oil and used oil analysis uoa/blackstone. You might get some interesting Used Oil Analysis results.

Here is one possible thread:

This guy got single digit wear metals (iron and aluminum) with M1 0W-20EP. But the oil was a touch thin at his OCI, oil change interval.

Here is another interesting thread. Royal Purple had double the wear metals. https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/3790400/Re:_Royal_Purple_HPS_15K_Miles#Post3790400

Penzoil Yellow Bottle could do 5k just as well. Wasting perfectly good oil is harming the environment. I think in CA they are enacting laws to make it illegal to change oil too often.

Those potential CA laws will force all government fleets to only change oil once a year, not ordinary citizens, a big difference.
I'm always in favor of a full synthetic, since deposits per mile is always lower, regardless of the OCI interval.

1) The oil life monitor is not telling you any useful information. It's just a reminder, based on a software algorithm. Often including useless criteria, like 6 month calendar. (yes, calendar means little to quality oil with high TBN)

2) I don't see that you've posted any UOA results. Without objective criteria and hard data, we really are just "talking".

3) Honda engines are known reliable and produce few wear metals, even during very extended oil change intervals. They simply last.

4) The collective experience here at BITOG is, in fact, correct. We've been analyzing engines, oil samples, lifespan, sludge and varnish for many, many years. We "generally" understand exactly what works. 10K, with M1 EP will work perfectly and give you the results you want.

5) If you study some UOA results, you will find that in some cases, wear metals INCREASE with too frequent oil changes. YES, you read that correctly, the additives do take some time to become effective and robust oils (such as M1) often show FEWER wear metals PER MILE when proper OCI's are utilized.

6) Again, lets use facts, not speculation. The real "risk" of 5K OCI's is simply a bit of wasted money and resources. The benefit of 10K OCI's with M1 EP is maximum engine life, with minimal inconvenience. This makes your life better, which in my mind, is the goal of intelligent people everywhere.

Great post

Should be a sticky.

It is a trap! There are simply too many people who have used QSUD for it to be a sludge/varnish "creator". One person's experience is not the "be-all, end-all".

A bottle of Royal Purple is a bottle of hype. It has NO ADVANTAGE over any other fully synthetic motor oil. Period. Use whatever full synthetic you want with confidence.
