Hi Doug:

Yes. I changed the oil (before I received the results back). I currently have Castrol Edge with Syntec Power with about 4,000 miles and will obtain another UOA shortly on the Castrol. Just restocked on the Edge w/SPT at Autozone 5 qts for $29.

I usually do a 7,500 to 13k oil change on my other cars. I was a bit concerned about the very cold temperatures in Colorado this winter and wanted to see if this had any effect on the Mobil 1 0W40 (it did not have an adverse effect).

I also must admit that I enjoy changing the oil on my 911 and since the 996 has the famed IMS failure issues, I'm probably going to do 5,000 to 7,500 oil change intervals (this is a heated issue in the 996 world). Since I do my own oil changes, I figure that the money I save from not spending at the dealership for routine service (i.e., $300.00 oil changes) can go towards more frequent oil changes. I hope to have this car for a very long time.

You can do a lot of things with the extra $265 savings (leftover) from the dealer's $300 oil change.
