Here's what happened, I was stopped at a yield sign to the right, I moved forward a little to see over this tall grass blocking my sight of the intersection. I stopped for oncoming traffic. Then She hit me probably at 5mph. My car was stopped when she hit me and pushed my car 5-10 feet. She was driving a 95 Acura 2.5. My 1992 mitsubishi mirage has scratches on the rear bumper and the reverse tail light is busted. Here's the thing, after the accident. My car makes a loud tapping sound now! Everytime I acclerate on the pedal, this tapping sound. it goes away when I take my foot off the gas pedal. what could it be? will her insurance company pay for my car to get checked out by a mechanic? I haven't ever been in this situation before. any help is appreciated.

Yes, report it to the insurance company and the local law enforcement agency in case the damage is significant. Here in MA law enforcement must be notified if damage exceeds $1000, however I always advise people to be safe and let the appropriate agency know anyhow.

The tapping sound could be any number of things; another story altogether.

her insurance company will deny all responsibility - it was your fault that you got hit.

I now have to go to a jury court case because I dared to sue a girl with no insurance for destroying my MB

Progressive lawyers decide they have to protect her, and that I should just take it all as a loss, so they now tie up the courts.

Sorry to rant.

Make sure that they repair everything and anything that may have been damaged. Pursue these idiot insurance companies, because theyre making millions and could care less if your stuff is ruined or you take financial losses.

just an update. I found this tapping sound is coming from my transmission bellhousing where the flywheel is. I hope the flexplate bolts haven't been jarred loose from the hit.

I found the flexplate was cracked in several places, the lower three bolts are still tight. is it possible when she hit me from behind that there was too much stress on the flexplate and it cracked? if I keep driving, the flexplate is going to break and my car will be undriveable. only way to repair is to drop the transmission which is beyond my capabilities. alot of $$$ meanwhile, I just got a message from doctor's associates about my accident. I still haven't gotten a callback from her adjuster.
