I bought this one on sale with two batteries at Home Depot. Good price, the two batteries are almost free

Ok I did not read every word in the listing. It's a pin detent model and not a friction ring model.

It did unscrew both caliper bolts from the caliper bracket on F250. Large bolts with thread lock. So it's got some power.

But to get a socket on I needed to push the ball in with my finger while pushing the socket on. And to get it off I need to push a pin into the hole in the socket to slide the socket off

I am not 200 feet up building a bridge where I need to make darn sure the socket does not come off the impact wrench.

I am thinking I will return it. Wait for a sale of the friction ring model.

Yes exactly. Just put the socket on one of the other 3 sides so that the pin doesn't catch in the hole.

The ring type retainer is called a "hog ring" not "friction ring."

That's not a bad deal at all considering those are the 3.0 Ah batteries.
FWIW, Walmart has the same wrench (tool only) on sale for $147, but it's hard to pass up on those two big batteries.

Its just stiff.. it will break in..
or just dont align the pin with the hole on socket.
While I know that on Hime Depot website they call it a friction ring

The MILWAUKEE M12 FUEL 1/2 in. Right Angle Impact Wrench w/ Friction Ring is the industry's most powerful right angle impact wrench. This battery-powered right angle impact wrench delivers up to 220 ft. lbs. of nut-busting torque without kickback.

Glad to hear you’re happy with the power. I’ve been considering one mainly for doing caliper brackets on my f350. My gen 1 m12 stubby wouldn’t take them off and I couldn’t quite get it to fit on all the bolts in the rear. I just got the gen 2 stubby which is more powerful and maybe a bit shorter so I will see if it will fit. I’m probably doing a brake service tomorrow.

Even my hog ring impact had to be broken in before it wasn't overly difficult to get the socket off. I debate whether or not I should have bought the pin detent version.

I ordered a friction fit one and may return this one to Home Depot.

But the total was $179 and the two "batteries" included with the impact wrench are worth over $100.

Maybe try and sell the bare tool wrench?

If the "free* tool or battery(s) are separate line items you can return what you don't want.

Known as "the hack"

I tried on 3 vehicles, 0 success. It just didn't have enough power to be useful. I broke them free with a 1/2" ratchet and I'm no storng man contestant
I can understand that. For my truck I can get one with a Milwaukee mid size M18 impact. The other it's either a right angle impact or breaker bar, possibly with pipe attached.

But if I am paying $200 for a tool I am thinking I should get one that makes me happy using it.
12 volt Milwaukee battery have a bad track record with me. I had 4 of them go bad from ONE battery in the bunch going bad. I opened them up and charged the bad one hoping to balance the pack out, but all four went bad again after two tries and had to throw them out. Kinda peeved, when I had to throw away $350 in batteries. And they were not overly stressed. Just junk batteries or charging system design for that 12 volt setup. All my 18v are ding fine.
