January down here is over...
12 days of rain, 14 no sun, no day over 79F, 2-12"rain, on what's normally our hottest, driest month (oft see two weeks of 105s running)...feb 2nd, and better half has gas heat on

Up here its been the mildest winter I can remember. We had 1 ( one) week of real cold (near -20F) the rest of the time has been high 30F's to high 40F's. I have taken my winters off twice. We have zero snow and my snowblower has sat, never been used, I haven't even had to shovel. I have seen tons of Canadian geese sitting in the fields, probably pretty confused. Lots of snow in the mountains though record amounts for some parts.

I heard they are having record snows in southern Italy and France and the Black Sea has enough ice to walk on it.

This is one messed up winter.

The cold front has been camping up north. It has been a very brutal, cold and snowy winter in Alaska. Anchorage had over 100 inches of snow in January alone. I moved down just in time.

The Angeles Crest Highway (about a 20 minute drive from here) is usually closed from about November to June 1 or so due to snow. In the year of El Nino back in 1997 snow was 20 feet feep at Buckhorn Campground in places.

It is different now.

I drove it a few days ago. There is about 2 inches of powder snow along the shady parts at 7500 feet or so. It is open for the whole length. Down at about 5,000 feet there are even flowers growing on the sunny south slopes.

Down in San Gabriel my car thermometer said 86 degrees the other day. Today the high will be 74.

It has been nice at home and especially at work. Not having snow and cold related problems has made this the easiest winter I remember on our fleet of school buses.

We have pollen on everything right now. It was 80 yesterday. Last year we had 30+ freezes and this year we've had 2.

I read a report out of Tennessee I believe it was that female cra ppie being caught already have eggs! They said it was about 2 months early.

I have one decent running Ariens snow blower. I squoze my Ranger clutch R+R into a 10' wide tent to keep the snow off the the truck. 4" of powder that was gone in 3 days.

This winter has had the least amount of snow that I can ever recall. It really sucks.

+1 on the pollen and crazy temperatures. I hear that because of the mild winter 2012 is going to be a terrible bug season.
