It's been much warmer and less snow in Ohio so far this Winter than last or any I can remember. We've gotten practically no snow all Winter and the last 2 days the temperatures have reached into the 60s. There's only been a few colder than average days. I remember the last few Winters there were many days at or below zero, lots of snow and just cold temps for days on end. I'm not complaining. I wish it was like this every Winter. Edit: I don't know how this ended up in the wrong forum.

We had a cold week 2 weeks ago, but, yeah, light on the snow. No watch - we'll get hammered! An old Indian told me in the fall that we will have a mild winter - no pinecones on the ground this past fall.

I've been thinking about how mild this Winter has been for several week now, but I just saw on the news that the Jet stream has been holding Artic air away from N. America. Every where else has just been pounded with cold temperatures and snow from Europe to Japan. Theres been many warmer than average days here since fall, so there might be something to what that old Indian said.

duh No thanks; I'll take the cold weather!!

It has been really mild in Ohio this winter, although we have had quite a bit of rain. We had one fairly mild ice storm in January, which began only after everyone was home from work on a Friday, and was followed by temperatures well above freezing on the Sunday of that weekend. We've had virtually no snow so far. January is our coldest month, and the coldest we saw in this part of the state was one 10F morning. I'll take this type of winter weather. It is a break from the last couple that we've seen here.

One freak snow storm in October when the leaves were still on the trees. Lost power 5 days. Nothing since. its 51F right now. California was wrong, should have been 15k oil changes, we all gonna fry! blush

It was a warm day here in southeastern PA. I noticed a moth on the outside of the storm door when I went out this evening. It is the first of February, isn't it???

It was 65 degrees here today. I was comfortable doing some chores outside with a t-shirt and shorts. I'm not complaining!

I rotated my tires earlier in jeans and a hooded sweatshirt. There's no snow in the forecast anytime soon. It's almost to the point where I'm debating if the snow tires should come off to wait for the next big storm...

Does this mean the price of heating oil in the frozen north is going to drop? If the distributors are drowning in the stuff, (I hope) which may happen after a few more weeks of the 50's and 60's around here I suppose they will just throw dye in it and sell it as diesel. It doesn't store THAT well. Or maybe heating oil is dyed and diesel is clear, I can't remember and I'm not going to peer into my oil tank tonight.

At my house we had several nights of below zero weather, and I had pipes freeze for a day or two. I wonder if it takes more than a few days of frigid weather to kill the bugs and rodents. I have not found any ticks on the dogs for a month or two. "Billy the Kit" (cat) takes care of the rodents and normally brings me proof of his kills.

It's going to cause havoc in my orchard. The trees are starting to bud out. When the next hard freeze comes, no apples this year. As for the bugs, I think I am going to get a few guineas near the house.

At 1 PM, I drove past a time/temp sign. 60f ! Heating oil is dyed red. For the price, you 'd think the red was rubies. I have see piles and piles of fire wood in my drives through eastern MA

We'll just have to see what the ground hog has to say about more Winter tomorrow lol. With at least 1st week of February forecasting being mild I can't imagine this Winter turning out bad. Of course the weather won't usually be to my liking until late April or later.
