Mild Winter

I'm almost thinking of taking the snow tires off. There's been no winter weather to speak of for a few weeks now.

This is insane. What is going on this year we got a dusting last week but thats been the extent of the winterbweather in recent weeks. I think our snowfall total this season is like 6" and most of that was in oct and nov.

You have more than we have for the season. The only snow here is at the ski areas since they made it. Our local hill is suffering pretty badly. They've only opened half of their terrain, and what's open is icy as anything. Whatever, it's still skiing.

To follow up... I went ahead and raked the yard, then broke out the mower. I'm glad I put out weed/feed last month. The weeds (and grass) are already growing here. I can't recall it ever being that early before.

On a side note, I hear some European countries are receiving bad winter weather.

Yikes!!

I wonder how this warmer winter is going to play out. Is spring going to come early and will Summer be hotter or milder? I remember last Summer being hotter than usual and then we've been having a warm winter. I wonder if this Summer will be another scorcher or not.

January was the fourth warmest on record (but within a degree of being the 2nd warmest)and snow cover was the third lowest. I don't think even those averages convey how warmer than normal it seemed since there were just a few cold days and many mild ones.

Also no state was cooler than average and only two, Florida and Washington, were near average. The plains states were much above average temperature.

Bare ground this time in February just doesn't happen, normally, but it's happening now, so I'll take it.

This has been the best winter for low snowfall that I can remember.

They are issuing a 'warning' for tonight, and expecting it to go down to -15C!

That is freakin' sad! Not even worth mentioning the temp. until it's below -25C!

:P

We may be near average her in Florida but it sure feels much warmer. I feel like Ive had to run my AC in car and house almost everyday.

With heating oil costing about the same as gas, I 'm not complaining I see firewood every where in south eastern MA, the people are basking in the springlike weather. I did notice that a crab apple had tiny buds on it when I was out in Yarmouth. Ponds are just skimming over at night and melting in the sun. We are getting over 10 hrs of daylight and gaining 2 minutes a day. Snow is forecast for Saturday, so things are gonna be seasonal for a few days.

Snow storm is coming tomorrow! We will be getting at least 1/6 foot! I need to run to the grocery store to stock up with eggs, milk and break before they run out. I almost forgot about candles and batteries.

Holy [censored]! 1/6 of a foot, that like 2 inches!

Well...I did my storm prep: the generator is gassed up & ready to plug in (I lose power at the drop of a hat...or when an idiot ignores his "low skill" light in the snow & takes out a pole), Jeep backed in, snow brush & shovel in the entryway, plow & sander mounted on the F350.

We received about 3 inches of snow over night in southern mid Michigan, our second or third snow event of the season.

Listening to my scanner, there were MANY dozens of accidents, including rollovers, poles/guard rails hit, etc..

Knock on wood for me, but I get annoyed at the occasional comments about people upset with "too slow" drivers actually being hazardous. Yes, this can be true to a point, but slowing down to the conditions is more appropriate than getting into an accident.

So, if you are in a hurry during bad conditions, stay away from me!
