I couldn't find much info on Mercon V so I bought Motorcraft. Per the msds the primary base oil is HYDROTREATED (MILD) LIGHT PARAFFINIC Mineral Oil so Castrol or Valvoline synthetic may be better. If they're too high just make a trip to the dealer.

Last I looked (last week) Valvoline was $4.99 at Oreilly's and Castrol was $4.99 at Autozone, fwiw.

ATF is getting so darn high in price!
So high that I did not raise an eyebrow hearing $5/qt for genuine MC MV. Better than most, it seems.

But $2.50 /qt? check the seals on your bottles and see if it's used fluid in there!

LOL not used fluid..direct delivery for the dealer, but even retail is 4.00 for dealers around here. 7.00 for SP....I might have a little pull. When we service i charge 3.50 for a qt of ford motorcraft MV and 6.00 for 5r110 that require SP

At least it's not BMW/Esso: they charge $25-30/liter.

That's one of the things I hate about Ford...they let their dealers charge prices that are all over the map. The last time I bought MV from my local, it was $6.09/quart...and that was over a year ago. If I could get it for $4.99 I wouldn't use anything else, but I can get Valvoline and Castrol for $4.49 from NAPA and AZ, so the dealer can get stuffed.
