McDonalds Coffee

I think I have a good taste for coffees. You can always tell if you are at a 5stat restaurant bc of their coffee. McDonalds coffee does not rise to that but their coffee is hard to beat. And $1 for the senior size. Anyone disagree or disagree(expected...lol)?
Perkins restaurants has a good cup of Joe. The manager would sell me a handful of foil bags for a few bucks.

My mom and dad would have McDonald's for breakfast when on road trips. They always mentioned how good McD's coffee was. This was before the McCafe thing.

BTW, I went thru a McD's drive thru a few weeks ago. The dang ice cream machine was working! I nearly died.

True devil coffee is at the Donut Wheel in Livermore, around 2AM (when they used to be 24/7). I think the coffee is what you'd expect from a diner in the 1950's; Farmer Brothers re-roasted, high octane. The excellent donuts made up for the coffee. Come to think of it, this place might have been around in the 50's.

My problem with mcdonalds coffee is their bad habit when theyre in a hurry of putting a cup under the drip for a couple of people then everyone else gets water. that and theyre paper cups at least for a while had a serious leak problem where it would meet the lid

Yes their coffee is good. They just lowered their everyday price here in Alberta to $1small, $1.25 med, $1.50 large, $1.75 xtra large.
Not sure if its all of Canada though.

I do find that their cups leak at the rim lately. Of course I dont notice until there is a huge pool of it in my car cup holder.
yes!!! wth is with that leaking???!

I only drink ice coffee. For me they taste good with cream and sugar. Otherwise too bitter and lack good aroma.

In rush hour they either forgot putting cream or forgot putting sugar. Or forgot both lol

I'm thinking McDonald's coffee of the 70s was probably whatever was available from regional coffee roasters and could vary depending on the source. I also remember this one McDonald's near the courthouse where I did jury duty. They had a real hand-operated espresso machine. Nice copper one with an eagle on top. This was well before McCafe and just something the local operator chose to have.

I guess there could be stuff like percolator coffee. Coffee generally shouldn't be boiled. It does tend to overextract where it pulls out just way too much of the bitter stuff. I went to a cowboy cookout once where we had cowboy coffee. It was just boiled in blue enamel campware coffee pots and they relied on gravity to keep the grounds at the bottom of the pot. I ended up spitting out a lot of grounds.

Dear Mom made food well.
She knew the "F" word....and that word is flavor. Many have never heard of it.
She told me to start the day with coffee if you like -she mixed and ground store-bought beans daily- but make it count; then drink no more.

A good-to-excellent cup of coffee out, has been a rarity in my life and only in real restaurants.
65% of the time, it's weak. This is purposely done so the remaining coffee in the pot doesn't scorch. I get that.
35% of the time, it's powdered pencil lead in battery acid.
This is done for the cigarette smokers, and everyone else, who've killed their taste buds. Nobody gets this.
Your mother I’m sure is an excellent person, but she is wrong. Coffee should be consumed once every two waking hours to keep things right here in ‘Merica.

What coffee in bags ground or whole bean do you guys like?
We buy whole bean and grind ourselves.
For years we bought Gold Coffee Company Reserve but the price REALLY started to go up and well, all I can say after years of liking this coffee I cheaped out once it hit now over $10. a pound. I wont say that I will never buy it again but we found something that makes us just as happy after struggling for a while of tasting other coffees. The price increase over the years has been massive. It was going up with every order. Just rubbing me the wrong way on how much it has gone up/every order.

Not that I know anything about coffee except my wife and I taste is similar.
We love a STRONG brew (me even more strong) I liken it to Starbucks strong but its been YEARS since I have bought a Starbucks coffee, ex. when my brother is here, he adds water to our coffee, like one quarter + of water.

Anyway, just two months ago stumbled onto Costco "Costa Rica" whole beans. 6lbs for $37.99 is a good price @ 6.33 lb at Costco.com You need to buy in 6 lb quantities online. The low price and good taste and well, I look at it as an inflation fighter equal to Gold Coffee Company previous love. I wont say that this coffee is the end all of all good things. I still look to the above Gold Coffee as the standard. But this below has made the price of the Gold hard to swallow. (maybe) time will tell. Just finished up 6 lbs of it and now on the next new order of 6lbs. So far so good.

Does McDonalds put artificial coffee flavor in their coffee?
I've tasted what I believe is more than a few 'augmented flavorings' in many a food product.
Would any fast food joint serve such altered food products?
Hint: They're known for overly preserved "pink slime" hamburgers
Let me put it to you more gently: Does a diner owner sugar a wooden cantaloupe?

Also, since some of you are flyers I must tell you about a "Golden Winger" (in flight engineer) pal of mine.
He traveled with his own instant coffee because he wanted consistency and ease.
At first, I was appalled, then maturity showed me how invaluable consistency is.
