McDonalds Coffee

Wife bought the McCafe Kcups recently. They say medium roast but it’s definitely a darker roast. Not terrible but not great. The Donut Shop Kcups we’ve been using have been way better.

“ senior”

Staying on a narrow body aircraft, flying with people 30 years younger than me , then going to the McDonalds in the airport, ordering a coffee and getting the seniors discount makes me feel even older. 🤔

That said, I am actually very senior , seniority wise.

That kind of senior is good.

I used to be a big coffee snob, so McD coffee would never cut it for me. Nothing really would compare to the results I'd get out of my own manual espresso machine, using carefully selected freshly roasted beans. Now I quit, so it doesn't matter.

I usually get a hot Mocha and its ok about 80 percent of the time.

The past several months its been the machines at Quiktrip spoiling me. Usually I get some mix of Columbian and Vanilla. Early this morning I went to a different Quiktrip and had to navigate new self serve coffee bar taps they just installed. Myself and another patron were caught off guard futzing with them but still managed to get something drinkable for the commute to the family ranch.

I've tried to quit several times in my life. I saw to benefit to doing so and enjoy my 2 cups daily. But in my opinion coffee snobs are a PITA. Relax....it's just coffee.

BNB & resorts we bring it most times. We don’t do fast food places
I can't afford to give up that much space in a roll-aboard. Not an option for me.

So, I am either making it in the hotel room (great variation in quality there), or I am buying it in nearby. I don't eat fast food, either, but finding a decent coffee often requires a chain, whether that be a Starbucks, Peet's, or a Costa.

Wait what?
I'm a senior at 57?
Funny how discussing age and what's considered 'middle age' came up yesterday during family get together.
My rationale was, considering life expectancy being 75 years, the middle third is middle age, so 26-50 is middle age, senior after that. I didn't get much support as others wanted to associate with younger group where middle age group would start at 40.
Then I told them the joke about girl wishing she finally gets a job and moves out from parents as she's 36...
IMHO, it's mostly about level of mental and behavioral maturity that puts people into these groups.

Never been a snob, but now this thread has shocked me into accepting I'm an elder, its easier to say Ive become my parents right alongside dad, and grandpa, which is to say looking for the right cup at the right price and chains arent usually where you get that.

But often on the road you have no choice so where's a guy to go to get a twofer- good cup, good price. If you end up at Dunkin',Tim Hortons, or Mc'ds you can get a decent regular cup at a decent price.

Have a super automatic for home so every cup is the first cup with a fresh grind.

It was great when it was usually $1 for any size up to large. That and the app when their rewards program was only for buying "McCafe" items where it was buy five and get a coupon for any McCafe item. I'd have have 5 cups of brewed coffee and then could get a large specialty coffee that would normally cost about $4. And the brewed coffee was more than drinkable, plus refills at the time (although some franchises would mark the cups so that I'd only get a single refill).

It wasn't always $1 though depending on local prices. I remember being in Vegas where it was more than $1, but I would just get coffee as part of a breakfast meal where the total price was maybe $3. And even then it counted as one McCafe item towards the five required.

I don't see any special deal for coffee any more. At least not around here.

Now that's a coffee machine, I'll have to look into one.

Looked it up on Amazon, nope. Holy moly.

I still have and use my 5 cup Gevalia coffee maker that I got free in the late 90s when you only got there coffee through the mail when you joined....Still works great...
