My son is discouraged to drive my MB as the gas pedal is made of plastic with "poky edges" and he likes to drive without his shoe (bare feet or on socks).
I drive with my shoes/sandals on and it doesn't bother me, any idea if there is a rubber cover to buy (searched and couldn't find one).
The Lexus has a rubber pedal and likes driving it vs. the MB.

Any thoughts.

Your inputs are valid and with a teen very little prevails common sense!! He tells me he feels the throttle better - time.to put foot down and say it’s against the law (although there is no law against it).

If he likes that, I would suggest a barefoot style running shoe. It’s a thin, rugged slipper, possibly similar to old school driving shoes. Search on merel barefoot trail shoe and see what comes up.

And yes, at least where I’m from, driving without shoes is a misdemeanor.

On long trips the shoes come off frequently. For some it is a hypermiling trick. More in touch with the engine as a layer of numbness is removed. I just like to wiggle my toes, that's all.

There are specific driving shoes. I use them when tracking. Every PUMA factory store has them. They are thin and have really strong heal support.
