A little weirded out that the manual says 4.8 quarts with new filter and I put in a full 5 quarts and only half way up dip stick. Evidently, that’s normal. Still odd. Never had that before.

Thanks. I just changed it. Haven’t even gone anywhere yet. I’ll check it in the morning and see what it’s at.

HI all, yes, OEM filter that came on the car from factory. A new OEM of same part number went back on with Castrol Edge 0W-20.
I wound up adding .2 quarts to bring it just below the max mark.

Pretty clean. Car has 2400 miles on it. Very little "glittery" sparkles from metal. I'm used to seeing more than that on the first oil change in a new car. Oil was still gold tinted.
No adbv pretty common for Mazda OE/OEM filters. What I've seen all vertical thread/base end up orientation. I think you'll find the aftermarket equivalents to have one. Which hurts nothing.
