Mazda CX-50 Turbo and Synthetic Blend ???

Any idea why dealers - not just mine - but several - seem to recommend synthetic blends for the cx-50 turbo? They seem to recommend full synthetic for non-turbo and blend for turbo?

Can it be because even the synthetics won’t last more than 6 months? So might as well go blend?
While the non turbo can go longer with synthetics?

Or some other reason?

Anyway - I told them that I’d like full synthetic… and they grudgingly agreed. Something about the blends being better and getting in everywhere…

Its gotta be a dealer specific thing. ever since Mazda went 0W20 and then 5W30 on the turbo models and 0W16 on the CX-50 hybrid we default to full synthetic. Which I am sure people will argue it isn't and I won't disagree.

My dealer specs Full synthetic (5W30) for any Mazda product with a Turbo engine. Non turbos get the 0W20, which I believe is still full synthetic……hmmm, gonna ask when my CX70 goes for it’s 1 year service.

Lot's of dealerships use blends as their bulk, and successfully i might add. So it isnt just that Mazda dealership. Not that I believe the OP's rational is true, but it is a logical assumption.

A turbo engine always gets synthetic oil as default, and if a clown at the dealership tells you different and says blended oil is ok.........don't go to that dealer because that show they are clueless. That is why if you have a turbo, you never let the dealer change your oil for any reason, unless it is an Audi/VW, BMW, Porsche, Mercedes or exotic dealer. All others you have a very very high chance of getting bulk blended oil. Granted there are some smart people at some non-Euro dealerships that would point you in the right direction, but for most non-Euro dealerships "performance cars" are mostly not in their "wheel house". I bet some dealerships don't even have bulk synthetic oil. I know when the N-series turbo cars came out for Hyundai people were catching dealership putting in 5w-20 blended bulk oil way way to often, yet Hyundai at that time had 1/3+ of their car turboed.
