Mazda 3 2.0 MZR Factory Filter [CUT OPEN]

Factory filter off of my Son's 2012 Mazda 3 2.0 MZR, not the SkyActiv. Was only in use for about 2000km, wanted to get the FF out early. Seems like a solidly built filter. There was no ADBV. It was on pretty tight and needed a clamp style wrench to get it off as you can see by the marks on the can. There was a couple large pieces of something in the bottom of the can, a couple more in the pleats. I'm thinking maybe a sealer from somewhere.

Nice OEM filter. I sure wish Nissan filters still had this quality.

Did the filter say Made in Japan or where?

Nissans are now made in China.

Nice, dare I say perfect media. Tight, lots of it, and straight as an arrow. Must be a japanese made filter

Nice yes but also only on for 2000km. I does look like it would have no problem with the spec'd 8000km OCI up here though.

Nothing on the can, element or baseplate to indicate Country of origin. It did say both Mazda and Ford on the can.

I have the Skyactiv engine, but if the MZR mounts the filter in the same "bottom up" configuration no ADBV is needed.
