Yes, they could have packed them to take less space...

The bottles are slightly jammed in there but it wouldn't be much to make their shape a 2:3 ratio to perfectly fit the box.

Shoot, they even make a 5 quart jug that even allows easy recycling. This is a major waste. Think of the petrochemicals it took to make the foam block...

I never got the idea why they package 5 and 6 quart cases. Does it make it seem like its less expensive than a 12 quart case? The regular vavoline with the free toy car made sort of sense. I think that foam block is recyclable, might have that recycling symbol on it. I agree that 5 quart jugs make a dual purpose easy to recycle and carry you used oil in.
