Mahle now selling oil filters made in China ?

Assuming no counterfeit, darn! Mahle along with Mann and Hengst are my go to's for the fun fleet.

Realistically, there is probably no difference in performance, Mahle is a very reputable company that I'm sure has effective quality controls in place.

But I understand the sentiment, it is a bit disappointing, like when I received this from the dealer:

Sometimes but not always. Years ago Ford was having premature manual transmission failures on the Mustang GT but not the GT350 or 350R. Come to find out a few of the local employees at the tremec plant In Guangzhou cheapened the throw out bearings and a few other parts after Ford corporate left. After tearing down a Chinese made Tremec did it only come to light. I think Ford quit using the Guangzhou plant for anything Mustang related.

The key point here is "corporate" doesn't leave, assuming they did. Successful offshoring requires vigilance and I'd be surprised if Mahle doesn't have headquarters staff rotating through their offshore plants.

Toyota and Honda have Japanese staff at their plants - and so do their suppliers. Keep in mind, there are German-Chinese JVs too.

Like I said, I wouldn’t hesitate to use a Chinese or Indian(Harley) Mahle. Many here hold Premium Guard in high regard. And they’re Chinese.

Tremec transmissions for the Mustang were never made in China. That was the MT82 Getrag transmission used in the Mustang GT, but not in the GT350 or 350R.

Ah ok I knew one of the transmissions that Ford went with they decided to use the Chinese manufacturing plant. Such a dumpster fire.
Yeah, the MT82 had some issues, but a lot of guys on the Mustang boards say their MT82 never had issues. Could be that guys that did have the most issues abused the transmission due to "racing" behaviors.
