Mahle OC261, China COO from our European spec Land Rover 90 (Defender) diesel. This are the first China COO Mahle's that I have used for this truck. Austria COO picture included for comparison.
The China filter appears very well made, with the following minor differences from the Austria COO filter:
-no band around the element
-~1 or 2 more mounting threads (both more than adequate)
-convex vs. concave end plate ADBV sealing surface w/ slightly thicker ADBV
-slightly thicker, 'fuzzier' media
-"ears" on the element end caps, and
-spiral ridges on the center tube vs. smooth
Both have thick cans, very substantial end plates, dense, deep and evenly spaced media and metal center tubes with holes.
Based on my layman's observations, both are comparable high-quality filters and from a purely quality perspective I would not hesitate to use Mahle China COO filters. That being said, I am now using Italy COO COOPERS/Fiaam filters (until that COO changes??).
