M3P Ludicrous Review

This thread went off the M3P a long time ago, like it or not that how threads evolve.
Personally I try to be open to new information. Others just seem to change the subject; perhaps their minds are closed?
I was schooled in Silicon Valley Board Rooms. These execs are hard nosed SOBs. And filthy rich because of it. You stick to the subject and argue in good faith.That's the only way to deliver quality results. It's OK to be wrong; it's not OK to BS your way out. Credibility is everything.

Flying off topic and personal attack strategy is so disappointing to me because there is a wealth of solid information here.
Tesla pinged me to schedule the delivery. Probably Saturday.

I am not sure how many people have been in a 10 second car, but if you switch to Insane mode, this car is violent. Only way I can describe it is like a roller coaster. If you use this mode, tell your passengers to put their head against the headrest and brace themselves. I asked Sue to try it on a back road with no other cars around. I was not ready for it; it snapped my head back and hurt my neck. If you have ever been boxing and got hit squarely on the chin, you know what I mean. It tries to separate your head from your body. Warn your passengers.

510 HP, AWD, 2 motors. Adaptive damper suspension, P-Zero staggered rubber. Battery runs axle to axle; very balanced and low center of gravity.

Beyond that, the car is much improved as compared to our early car. 95% new parts. More substantial. Paint and build quality are great.
For 55 large this is an incredible car. Seats are the 1st thing you notice.

My prediction: when the Model Y gets these upgrades, watch out world.

Did you trade your old one in? Is this your new one?
 
I tried FSD on city streets; our other car had EAP. It follows the speed limit, which other motorists won't like because everyone drives over.
I pulled up to a T intersection with 3 lanes turning left and 1 right. The car understood that and turned on the left turn blinker. Given that all the blinkers in CA have been broken for 30 years, this was quite the surprise. It slows for speed bumps, etc.

This car has a lotta tech. If the windows are down when you get out and close the door, the window will go up about an inch so you don't have to put your finger prints on the paint. Who thinks of this stuff?

I read the BSM only comes on when your blinkers are on; this is not true. It is just like the Lexus. But the alert is only a little red LED; pretty chincy. Now the tablet display is fantastic, but just the same Tesla could'a done better. Still an improvement over our old car.

The suspension is far more compliant than the old car. In standard mode is it down right comfortable even with the low profile rubber. The suspension absorbs bumps well and there is little body lean. I'm sure the new seats add to the improved ride.

Thanks. You can also use the scroll wheel to moderate speed.
I am not really a FSD user; just trying it out. Gotta learn about this stuff, right?

I can tell you, on city streets FSD is pretty darn conservative; flat out careful. Perhaps more so than many drivers, at least in this respect.

I tried the FSD when it was free for a month. It overall did really well in the little bit I used it. I’ve definitely ridden with worse Uber/Lyft drivers but wouldn’t subscribe or buy it. To me, it was more stressful keeping tabs on the FSD than just driving the car myself.

If I had a multi hour trip weekly or something than maybe I’d get it but the adaptive cruise control works well enough for me on the highway and didn’t cost $12,000.

I had heard that they did away with that with this iteration of FSD. I know when they gave the free trials recently that the speed offset setting as it's called was disabled. I didn't use it enough to try, so I'm far from an expert on FSD. I've not been a fan of the software personally.
 
Upon inspection, the one thing I noticed was a paint imperfection on the hood by the T emblem; I was pretty sure it was a paint polishing spot overlooked. Luckily I was right for once. A little Turtle Wax Hybrid Polish Wax fixed it right up.

So far so good. This car is incredible. I am far happier with it than I thought I would be. For 55 large it's being called the Supercar killer.
Mostly I have used it as I would our '18 Mid Range. But the overall structure, ride and experience is on another level.

I checked out the sound data. Its similar to my ev6 GT for sound. Now you tesla folks are figuring out what you're missing. Build quality will be the next big revelation if Tesla ever figures that out. M3L reviews on line have been pretty sad.

Thats actually to stop the glass rattling when you shut the door ;) Frameless glass especially, but most cars door glass will rattle if its down.

The glass isn't held int he tracks as much, the cables are not tensioned the same, something like that anyway.

But its a neat trick that stops people thinking its cheap and rattly :)
 
Mildly annoying we in Australia get a different battery pack manufacture (LG vs Panasonic cells in the US) and hence ours is derated to 343Kw and 3.1 seconds 0-100kph - down from 375 and 2.9 for the US spec.

On the plus side though they come out of the Shanghai factory which has much better build quality than the US one :)

But cant justify either at present, will pick one up in a few years when they start coming off leases.
