The ratings seem similar (that is what little is available). I've read of pressure drop with the P1; another poster here had a problem with his Hyundai and went to OEM.

The price difference is enticing between the two (locally $11 vs. $6). I'm running an M1 now but due for a change next week.

I do 7,500 OCI's and will be using Rotella Synth this time, draining the TSUV (which still looks and feels great - and this engine loves it).

I'm trying to get the best filtration possible with an affordable spin-on filter and both seem to be down at the 10 micron level..nothing else off the shelf seems to come close.

Not sure if the M1 is worth ~double: I can't determine that it gives double the performance for me

I wouldn't worry too much about supposed "restriction" with the P1. Keep in mind Subaru OE was a purolator for a while before they switched back to the roki's.

And I personally would use the proper filter recommended by purolator (PL14612) for the suby turbo, because I have heard (although I don't have solid data) that 04+ subies NEED the smaller filter and subsequent oil pressure increase for its AVCS (variable valve timing) system.

I would check the filter area and relief valve setting for each particular model filter that you are contemplating. Mobil 1 will give filter areas and pressure relief valve settings if you call them. Purolator gives relief valve settings on their web site. Maybe if you call Purolator they will give you filter area.

I would not worry about flow restriction for either filter. The restriction rumor for P1 is just a rumor. I have not seen any data to back it up. Both are top filters.

I agree with the above posters.

I'd use the PureONE over the M1 EP filter. Cost with the PureONE is >40% less that the M1 EP, and with the recent redesign of the PureOne filter (see the thread regarding efficiency ratings), filtration should be almost as good, if not equal to, the new M1 EP filters.

My engine didn't like the pureone. Mobil1 is too expensive.

I'll stick with the NapaGold. Try one!
