M1 0w40FS vs 10w40HM

Duron 10w40 has 1,200 phosphorus, does that mean it’s a better product?
That's an HDEO, which likely has a different ZDDP package than a PCMO and a totally different list of approvals, which you seem to have ignored. It's the combination of the approvals (proof of performance) and the non-neutered AW chemistry (full-SAPS vs API) that combine to make it the better product.

And yes, I'd classify the Duron 10W-40 as a better product than the M1 HM 10W-40. Even though the approvals aren't overly germane to PCMO applications, it at least has more than the basic API one.
It seems like some members are more interested in scoring points than posting useful information.
If you don't consider what I'm posting useful then please avail yourself of the ignore function.

You did not:
We asked you already which specs that 10W40 has are better?
5W or 0W don't determine performance at high internal temperatures (ambient temperature is absolutely irrelevant).
Yes, if the 10w40 is "better" for any of the following reasons I would probably switch.
- it's cheaper
- I don't need a 5w or 0w for my climate / application
- 18 years old would definitely fit "high mileage" to me
- the 10w40 has better specs / approvals

You're still going back to the "better specs and approvals". I thought it was explained very clearly to you by multiple people now over 3 pages and you still think you're right? I think it's time to give up. Lol.

If it doesn't have better specs then it doesn't apply.

How much cheaper? In US it is same price.

Absolutely irrelevant!

Those are years. You have 87,000 miles. My BMW, which was tracked a lot has 152,000mls and I use Castrol Edge 0W30, Motul X-Cess 5W40, Motul 300V, Mobil1 0W40. You think engine "knows" it "needs" HM oil?

- the 10w40 has better specs / approvals

We are asking you for three pages to tell us which specs/approvals are better, and yet, here you are.
Listen, if you need confirmation bias, as far as I am concerned, you can use Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

This is a whole lot of hoopla to draw the real conclusion of, it doesn't matter.

Mobil 1 0W-40 FS and 10W-40 HM are both oils that will see this engine through the end of it's service life without a lubrication-related hitch.

Personally, if there are no leaks with what you've been using, then I wouldn't change a thing. If/when you notice small leaks starting someday, make the switch to 10W-40 HM.

Personally, I would run this:

Again - the claim “the 10W40 has better specs / approvals”.

You keep making it, but show no evidence to support your contention.

You missed the word "if". I listed the reasons why I'd run a 10w (or 15w) or a HM oil over a 0w.
And most of people told you that 0W40 will outperform those oils in cold, hot, ANY situation and any engine.
In that engine you need that Motomaster Euro 0W30. It is easy on oil, it will run on anything literally. Why introducing more resistance and with that heat?
