M1 0w40 or M1 TDT

I have a 2006 Aprilia Scarabeo 250 with a Piaggio engine. Manual specs only a 5w40. I read the specs on both of these oils and the 0w40 all but matches Amsoil's 5w40 euro auto oil. The M1 TDT is a bit different and has a lower VI.

Any thoughts as to which one would be better? I can exchange 3 quarts of a M1 for either, that is why my question is specific to M1 products. Thanks....Jack

That's a no-contest contest: M1 TDT. The 0W-40 gets so torn up in motorcycles. TDT does too but not as much.

Here is a UOA of M1 0W-40. Viscosity was only 10.5 cSt.

Hi,
jackkpts - Good choice of scooter. I nearly purchased the 500 but went for a Burgman 650 instead

M1 TDT 5W-40 will be just fine in that application. This engine is great and quite easy on its lubricant
