I think its more of the attitude of " I'm saving the planet and you are not"

Part of the smug, i know whats better for you. I don't want one, and you should not have one either, the government should some how stop this, attitude. Most who think this way are re-distributionists.

Me I'm the exact opposite. I miss being in a go cart-sized powerful two seater. I drove a friend's huge lifted Ram diesel the other day (his is actually a work truck,he's a contractor and it gets used like a truck and shows it). I felt like I was driving a house haha that thing felt huge! I felt like I was taking up both lanes haha.

Mr. Nice-your above that comment.....really.

I own 2 HD Rams and a BMW 335d. What does that make me? A luxo-planet-killer?

Drive nothing but a school bus for a month. A Ram Crew Cab with it's tiny steering wheel feels like a go cart.

I own one of the nicest pickup trucks Ford makes (Platinum) and I would in no way compare its interior to a luxury car. I mean it's nice, but does not hold a candle to some of the finer cars I have been in.

I don't care what people drive. I don't hate trucks but driving one daily doesn't make sense to me for my situation. I have a 5x8 trailer with a ramp that does everything I need and is detachable and easier to load. My issue is the morons who buy a big truck yet can't handle driving it. Always coming around the corner with some guy in a big truck half in my lane. I drove an F350 diesel dually with a 5th wheel trailer for work for 5 years once I was 16, and I could stay on my side of the road.

Or maybe they're just people who tow a 26k+ lb toy hauler to the Dunes to play, and like to be comfortable with the nice leather heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel, nice sound system, etc...

Yes, some do indeed need a BIG work truck..... others want the 'look at me' effect.

I have owned five...I just think the modern ones are ridiculous. Since I no longer plow snow and sold my house, I no longer need one.

Our "glitter and glam" Dually, is actually a small truck strictly used to pull the toy hauler for play. I also considered an MDT or HDT to pull the toy hauler. But having owned those in a past business, I know they are miserable to drive in comparison to our light duty 1-ton Dually.

As for the "look at me" effect, why do you care why other people buy whatever they want? I thought you were in the market for a Corvette? Are you considering buying one of those just for the "look at me" effect?

We buy what we like. The opinions of others simply don't matter.

Nearly every newly minted doctor, dentist, etc. around here buys a BMW or Mercedes straight out of school.

Then they find out that such brands are repair-intensive, repairs are expensive and hard to obtain, and the actual climate, snow, etc., around here really doesn't make such a vehicle practical.

A year or two later, there's almost always a big non-luxury-brand name SUV or pick-up truck in the driveway... Bought from a local dealer instead of one 60 miles away.

Why are you comparing pickups to sedans or whatever that other vehicle is? Nobody buys a pickup for driving dynamics.

Senseless comment.

And the payload capacity and the ability put my 4-wheeler in the back of a full sized sedan is terrible compared to a pickup. See how insane that sounds? Good grief
