Anyone using lucas fuel treatment? From what I have read it is supposed to be a UCL and a fuel system cleaner. Just wondering how well it works at both jobs.

We use it @ the rate of between 2 to 2.5 oz per 10 gallons of fuel @ each fill. We buy the large bottle and refill the small bottle about 1/2 full and when down about 10 - 12 gallons, add the Lucas UCL then pump the fuel so it gets mixed up good.

I have used it and was told by my used oil analysis guy Terry Dyson that it doesn't really do anything but lubricate the upper cylinder and the parts of the fuel system.
It's not known by him for any cleaning ability. For that he reccomends FP from Lube Control.

Obviously more of a lube, but I am surprised to hear that no cleaning agents or cleaning is derived from it.
The source is credible, but I wonder if there is more to the story.

I had deposits showing up in my used oil analysis from the fuel I use and I was using LUCAS thinking it was keeping the combustion chamber clean. He told me that, then I switched to what he recommended and the deposits went away and my tail-pipe developed a blank ring around the end of it, then went clear. He told me this was the engine burning off the deposits...
Engine is very quiet and smooth now.
I started using Schaeffer's 2000 Diesel Treat in both a Detroit Diesel and Cummins engines about 1.5 year ago. It has done an excellent job of cleaning up the fuel system. The cumbustion has become smoother and, a black smoke problem, was eliminated. Performance was improved quite a bit and mpg's went up a little. Would be a good product to look at if someone is considering a diesel fuel additive.
Just wanted to "bump" this thread. I bought a case of this stuff for 50 cents a bottle. It was a service station closing down. Anyways, just wanted some input. Thanks.
That is the juice most people refer to when they refer to "Lucas UCL" - there's been many-a-topic regarding this juice....some love it, some hate it, some don't think it does anything 
I'm on the fence.....I'm sure it does "something" - but doubtful it does any cleaning...but it is really oily....sure works good as a UCL....
So that's why I use Marvel Mystery Oil....it's a top end lube (UCL) and also packs some detergency to it as well....

I doubt it's ability as a cleanser, but a good UCL...most definitely. Just overpriced compared to ash-less TC-W3 2-stroke oil.

I agree, an UCL but a poor cleaner.

Lucas fuel system treatment from what I have saw is usually good to use on an engine that has not been carbon cleaned in a long time, and engines that have been sitting, or old engines. Also if you want an oil additive Lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer or if your oil is thinner than five w twenty, or.if you have variable valve timing then use Lucas low viscosity oil stabilizer.
