Forgive me if this has been discussed before.

Finally caught a glimpse of the Lubriguard 15w-40 CJ-4 at my local AAP a few days ago ...

Looks as though it's targeted towards the Rotella crowd; all the same curves and such. I put the Lubriguard gallon jug up next to the Rotella one, and they are NOT exactly the same, but the similarities are stunning. Further, the colorization of the label seems similar to the colors on the Rotella bottle. The wording and such is obviously different, but the "looks like, smells like, seems like" vision is there.

Isn't imitation the sincerest form of flattery??????

Warren's latest marketing attempt?

Is this the same stuff that says Warren on it now? Because I noticed the same things about the bottle and label yesterday in AA. I bought a bunch of its predecessor, which was still labeled Coastal 15W-40, CJ-4. They were selling it for $6/gal for a long while, then later, 7 or $8/ea. I bought like 15 gallons while it was still really cheap. Now, I would probably buy the MC 5 qt jugs at WM if I needed a good, inexpensive HDEO in that grade. It seems to be about the best everyday CJ-4 deal out there right now.

Yeah, I saw some Coastal CJ-4 with the purple label/white bottle several months back in AAP. Probably the very same lube in newer packaging, clearly targeted at the Rotella crowd. I also saw the Coastal for $7/gallon. I was very tempted to buy some, just for the sake of experimentation. Was going to do a VOA/UOA comparison. Oh well, best laid plans that never came to fruition.

Often seen at farm supply stores as well.

The price is right; quite often less than $9 a gallon.

If they made a 10w-30 HDEO, I'd be all over it to give it a try.

While in Advanced Auto today, I also saw the Lubriguard 15w40 for $10.99 per gallon. To me it also looked similar to the Rotella 15w40 bottle design/color. I am not sure of the quality of this product? Maybe it is as good as the other big names?

It's CJ-4 licensed. I would not hesitate to run it for OEM OCI durations. I doubt it's a good as the big three (Delo, Delvac, Rotella) for extended runs, but for "normal" OCIs, it will likely do just fine. They hold their costs down with less advertising, etc.

Like I said, if they made a 10w-30 dino, I'd be all over it just for the sake of trying it.

Not a troll or peddling the product....

I have seen on several companies where the Coastal brand is recommended as a oil in general: GM, Cummins, etc...

It is at least reconized by the big companies so I would think it would be good for normal OCI's?

I found it at AAP and started to use it. We will see in time after an one time analysis to ensure of the product is good enough for me since Cummins recognizes it as an approved product.

How about we let the UOAs speak for the performance of the product.

Lubrigard is licensed, and approved for use in many vehciles.

It may or may not be a "crazy" expenditure based upon the cost, and end results.
