LSJr's Video Testing Data - Pennzoil and Quaker State's Differences

LakeSpeeds videos have been informative and educational. My personal opinion is they are long winded, could be condensed, could lose the background music and summarize at the end of points made. So the overall presentation could be better but thumbs up for the information.

The best way to learn from LakeSpeed is keep the video going and make a note of each point made while ignoring the other chatter.

And that is true regarding the topic video but now we know that Quakers State is using GTL in their new Ultimate Protection 20k oil. The SDS image I posted shows 80-90% GTL in that product.
They may have been at the time the SDs was written. They may now or they may not.

They are setup to make money which is to keep you watching for the entire length. Short condensed videos don't do that and is why most monetized channels don't do short to the point videos.

Informative. Just started watching his videos. Liked the one about old oil and the dropout. Made me think about adding ZDDP or Micron moly to otherwise good oil. I too could do without the psycho guitar strumming.

I dont blame anyone for wanting to make money and I would do the same if I had the ability to produce Youtube videos and attract attention. However I did not go out and buy Pennzoil or use any of Lakespeeds services in exchange for money.

Instead I bought a big load of Valvoline Advanced that I got a big deal on at Valvolines global store. It came out to $17.60 for 5 quarts of a name brand oil.

I thank Lakespeed for the information but Valvoline was half the price and I went that route.

One thing I wanted Lakespeed to answer was what would happen to an engine...lets say a GM 5.3 V8...with Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and Quaker State Ultimate Protection after 150000 miles...or lets say Ultra Platinum vs Platinum. He did the comparison and now what is the end result in his opinion.

BTW I looked over Lakespeed Jr. linked in page. Bachelors in Advertising. The way he was talking I thought he would have a science based degree. His oil experience is only with Driven Oil which I have never heard of. Honestly he kind of lost points with me after looking at his page. I was expecting something like a Chemical Engineering degree and employmen at Shell or Mobil. In starting to think Lakespeed is more of an advertiser then a serious motor oil engineer.

I've never seen him compare PP or PUP to QS UP. Also, there are many variables to an engine's longevity but Synthetic's have shown reduced wear capability in testing. How much plays out in real life?

I'm not sure why you would expect LSjr to do a test of your requirements unless you're paying for it. That would be a very expensive test!

LSjr is a "Certified Lubricant Specialist" & that doesn't make one an engineer but he is testing oils for us to see & that requires us to simply watch his YT. You want him to test a GM engine for you & tell you how long it would last using two different oils for 150k... I think your expectations are not realistic. He tells you exactly what he is from the get go & never has he claimed being an engineer. Spoiler alert... You don't have to be an "engineer" to be serious about oil...Welcome to BITOG.

He clearly stated he was going to skip over PP and put PUP in his Porsche. Im just wondering if both oils would do just as well.

He wants to use PUP because of the Borate Esters in it. Well, Pennzoil Euro LX 0W-30 (Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0W-30) has 500 ppm of Boron. I looked up the FTIR for both oils, and Euro LX has the same Borated Esters, just a heck of a lot more of it, along with a 3.5 HTHS. That would have been way more appropriate for his Porsche.

I'm sure that Lake Speed, Jr. is devastated over losing those points ... with you.

You don't need a Chemical Engineering degree to piece together motor oil formulations like Legos. Lake is a degreed tribologist.

FWIW, Dolph Lundgren has a Chemical Engineering degree. But you don't see him hanging around here either.

Engineering students usually take 6 to 7 years to get their degree depending on the specialty. Anything less than a B is a fail. Sometimes the required courses are not even available that semester. When they finally graduate...if they graduate as many wash out...then they have to find a job and perform. So I dont blame Mr. Lundgren for moving on.

Lake isnt working for Driven Oil anymore. He is now VP of Sales and Marketing at Total Seal Piston Rings which seems to better align with his BA in Advertising from a state school that took him six years to earn.

What are you on about Dolph Lundgren moving on?

Lake isnt working for Driven Oil anymore.
He formulated motor oils at Driven.

He is now VP of Sales and Marketing at Total Seal Piston Rings
That's a pretty high paying job, not to mention that he's got people working for him there.

which seems to better align with his BA in Advertising from a state school that took him six years to earn.
Good thing the career police is out on patrol, making sure people use the degrees they earned, and are not doing something else.

Lets go back and review some of this. Lake on his Linkedin page states he is a Certified Lubrication Specialist and an Oil Monitoring Analyst. However nowhere on the page does he state he is a degreed tribologist.

Review these screenshots and his linkedin page. Let me know your thoughts.
