All the TGMO love over the years.. gone with one dipstick pic..

Probably because it's a Sienna. He puts PuP in his Porsche.
I find it odd that there is a vehicle in his fleet that has varnish under the v/c, 180k Miles or not. We need more of a back story. Did he buy it used with Toyota Service Records?

That’s how penicillin and potato chips were created.
Not only penicillin, but a number of important discoveries within the pharmaceutical industry were stumbled upon, by chance including: Cisplatin, Viagra, insulin, ivermectin, Prozac, Warfarin, and the list goes on. This happens all the time in science. To capitalize on some of these discoveries, is another story...

I just started watching the video and the first thing that has me curious is that his wife’s Toyota has been using nothing but Toyota 0w20 since new. For a guy who knows as much as he does about oil I wonder why he wasn’t running something better? And were all of those changes done by the dealer instead of by him? That is really odd if you ask me. He probably has access to some of the best oils on the market…
Could have been a long-term test ...

Not everyone enjoys or has time to be crawling under a car. LSjr. is a busy guy and travels a lot. Easier and far more convenient to have his wife or daughter take their car to a shop.

This and the previous answer are speculation, just as your comments are judgmental and critical. Neither of us know the details of this fellow's private life or the reasons he has decided to do what he's done with his family's cars.

He even helped design some of them ...

So I just got done with the break in process on my Predator 9500W generator.

We don’t “block” Project Farm videos but we do restrict his oil tests because they are so poorly conducted.

He might as well compare them by taste for all the validity of his oil tests methodology.

Dozens of PF’s other tests are still in various threads on the forum.

But blatant misinformation has no place on BITOG.
It would be great if Lake used the same criteria for the title of his videos containing the phrase "The Truth". But that's outside the scope of BITOG, I reckon.

Curious why he ran TGMO for 10,000 miles, but the R&P for only 5,000, since he praises Valvoline so much but didn't follow their instruction of running the oil for regular intervals.

Here's my piston from from an engine rebuild that was done prior to the creation of "restore and protect".

Change your oil and you won't need restore and protect.
300+hr is clearly too long and 20 to 50 pictured above probably isn't reasonable in most situations. A compromise is in order. Maybe somewhere where between say 100 and 150hrs.

It might take too long to get x4 YT video's together at that rate. 10k may take a year for all we know so that would be waiting 4 years for the videos to be posted. Possibly felt that the oil may clean up the engine just fine at those rates.

Don't understand the hate on some of these posts for Lake at all. He has the knowledge base and a lab to back up his science. He's way smarter than anyone on here with oil and oil sampling. Guess some people are just going be jealous and bound to be hatters.
It's his hair!

I hated Ritchie Cunningham, too... :D

after watching the video, the Valvoline is living up to its claims, looking like a great oil and well worth using, and perhaps better than other mass marketed oils. time and proper oci wil be a factor. along with a good filter. the guy does apparently knows what he is doing and is bringing good solid honest information to the public.

Yes, while it is more expensive than a green scotchbrite for cleaning dirty dipsticks, it sure does look like it solves that problem.

I'd argue the folks buying oil in the WM aisle for DIY maintenance don't have fresh cars with low mileage.

You've already lost that argument.

I'm one of the people who buys engine oil for their cars at Walmart.
All of my cars have been bought new, too.

2007 Nissan Altima bought new in Dec 2006.
Wife's 2008 Chrysler Crossfire bought new in Nov 2008.
My 2011 Mazda RX-8 bought new in 2011.
My wife's 2012 Fiat 500 Sport bought new in 2011.
My wife's 2012 Fiat 500 Abarth bought new in 2012.
My 2014 Mazda CX-5 bought new in 2013.
My 2015 Porsche Cayman that was custom ordered, and bought new in 2015.
My 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia bought new in 2021.
My 2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio bought new in 2022.

Hell, I could even add a few motorcycles bought new in that time frame where I'm bought oil at Walmart for them.

I'm pretty sure there are plenty of other BITOG members who have bought oil at Walmart for their new cars.
