Not anywhere near as good quality as they used to be. The PG made filters are considerably betterBecause they do.

What Pennzoil Platinum 0W-40 was he originally using, because it does not look like he was using the Euro Formula PP 0W-40? I do not know what he blended, but it seems the other oils he was using were not giving him the UOA Numbers he wanted.
Because they do.
Dave's Garage still uses nothing but Wix too
That doesn’t prove anything other than the fact that most shops don’t do enough research. They buy based on price and convenience, not qualityCAT, Baldwin and Wix is 99% of what I see in shops.
His oil filter vids are pretty bad IMO. He’s stuck in the Wix world. There are certainly high efficiency, high flow, high holding capacity oil filters available…
Buy on availability and performance. We're talking billions of $$$ of equipment. Some getting 15+ oil changes a year. (Every 21 days)That doesn’t prove anything other than the fact that most shops don’t do enough research. They buy based on price and convenience, not quality
I found the blending of a custom oil very interesting. Lake does this in HPL’s lab. He touches on a bunch of amazing information regarding custom blends(boutique) vs cookie cutter(pre approved) and various ingredient advantages. I definitely learned a couple things. A little spoiler MPAO,PAO/AN/Ester….
If you’re buying based on performance there is enough evidence on here showing that Wix doesn’t perform as well as many other options. I don’t know what else to tell you here, you seem to have blinders on when it comes to the truth about Wix in 2025Buy on availability and performance. We're talking billions of $$$ of equipment. We move several thousand gallons of 15w40 a week.
LOL!!! My B33 Baldwin filters I use on my Toyota are really loose. I catch a lot of flak from all you for that. They do meet OEM specs, on purpose. I wonder if the Baldwin equivalent filter on that test would be worse than all those, when it comes to catching stuff? Anyhow, your tennis racket comment made me laugh. Have a great day.the filtration efficiency of a tennis racket.
Here is what I am seeing, LSJr was not happy with a certain oil, and he went and got the oil he wanted. I cannot blame him; I did the same thing.LSJr isn't a fan of high calcium. That's why he went with an SP add pack.
I'm not sure exactly which Pennzoil oil he was using prior.

What again is this guy’s education? Here is what I am seeing, LSJr was not happy with a certain oil, and he went and got the oil he wanted. I cannot blame him; I did the same thing.
I have been through this with Baldwin customer service and tech support and have written about it several times here on Bitog. The specs of the filters they make are on their website. They get OEM oil filter specs on paper and also test several OEM filters in their engineering dept. Then they start making the filters. Baldwin openly says they are not in the micron rating-efficiency race. They do try to match the OEM efficiency and flow rates. In my case, the B33 has a nominal rating of 23 and an absolute rating of 45. It has paper media, though they do make synthetic blend and fiberglass media filters for other applications. The bypass valve is 14 psid. I have always joked about how they only catch the bird nests and small pebbles. LOL! There are a lot of Toyota owners that ran their Toyota cars over 300,000 miles using nothing but the Toyota OEM filters since the day they were new. I like the construction of the Baldwin filter better. They make heavy duty, quality, OEM specification filters of all kinds. They are owned by Parker Hanafin Corp., a USA company, and shipped all over the world. Anyhow, I like them, and I use them. How do you know this?

A better question is, he goes to 1 oil place and does a Video, and then he goes to another oil place and does a Video. Is this guy more about making Money on Videos? What again is this guy’s education?
The average guy changing his oil in the driveway has no idea who LSJ is. He gets clicks but makes near zero impact. His time as come and gone
It happens to all of us.![]()
