She is 21 years old with no tickets or accidents. I couldn't believe the cost. They said that they could not disclose the vehicles with lower rates. When asked why they simply said company policy. So... to that end can anyone tell me which small cars have a lower insurance rate? I am looking for something that is at least five yers old but reliable.
Thanks in advance

Some insurance companys beleave or not go by credit rating....at least here in Texas.

Probably has something to do with the amount of snow the 2 areas receive.

I don't understand why Cavalier/Sunfires are expensive to insure....they are about as basic and boring as they come!

I pay about $106/month for full coverage for my wife and I on our 2002 4-door sedan w/auto, air, pwr. locks....I don't think that's too bad...?

Hmph. I resemble that remark!

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm late for the Early Bird Special at Denny's. . . .

How about a 4 cyl Olds Alero? 6 cylinder are much more dangerous according most insurance companies.
Is she in the GTA? Then theft rates start to affect insurance as well. Also get quotes without collision or comprehensive if the car you get is very cheap. TD does quotes online so you can play around there to see what's cheapest to insure.
Also threaten to move your house policy to someone else, they may be more cooperative then.

Because the possibility of dying or being seriously maimed in one is apparently quite high.

Do some digging online and find a list of most and least stolen cars that fit into the category you want.

Civics and Accords have a pretty high theft rate, causing a higher rate of insurance.

Basically, find a car that even the world's lowest life form wouldn't want, and voila...cheap insurance!

Wow! That's terrible...

I insure 4 vehicles, 2 are minivans with full coverage, for just a little over $100.00/month. And I live in the highest rate area in NC...

Oh, and older minivans and 4 cyl mopars are really cheap for basic coverage..

I survived without a scratch a semi truck pushing my sunfire out of the way last year, spinning in 4 lanes of traffic on the interstate, going 70 mph, hitting the median wall.

For comparison purposes only, dont let it [censored] you off.

I punched in my cars and its only $100 cheaper but I'm out in the sticks. I have a bricks and mortar broker too so I guess I could save more if I went through TD or some company like that.

If I lived in Toronto though I'd love to have the flat rate system!

What's it cost to insure a sled or an ATV? My very slow 250cc skidoo tundra cost $220 last year... Some guys in the states pay $50 for a similar sled.

I was told that they're expensive to insure because they're cheap (inexpensive) cars and kids/ parents seem to be able to afford something like that for the teen driver. Kids will then beat the heck out of them (so I've heard...)

We pay less than that for my 2006 Corvette plus my wife's 2006 Acura.

I think it'd be a lot more effective if local governments would actually enforce it. Uninsured drivers are the majority in Texas.

Same here in AL. I have been in 3 accidents which were 100% the other driver's fault. None of them had insurance.

I second that. If someone hits me and doesn't cough up an insurance card pronto, they better hope the cops get there before I can dig lug wrench out of my trunk.

Yeah, I'm a 23 year old male with an '04 Elantra and it's barely over $900/yr with good coverage.
