I hate these "brand bashing" threads. Whatever the brand. They hurt this forum.
Sometimes it’s warranted if the data backs it up. But a lot of times there’s not any data backing up opinions. Who cares about empirical evidence anyways?I hate these "brand bashing" threads. Whatever the brand. They hurt this forum.
In what way? Like everything else on here, it's a matter of opinion, and there may be value in someone reading various opinions.I hate these "brand bashing" threads. Whatever the brand. They hurt this forum.
Well, everyone's an expert, right? Gotta love the "fact", "they will", "I know" and "my brand is great and yours is garbage" stuff.I hate these "brand bashing" threads. Whatever the brand. They hurt this forum.
They always devolve into a spitting contest. Haters gonna hate, fan boys will be fan boys regardless. In what way? Like everything else on here, it's a matter of opinion, and there may be value in someone reading various opinions.
Like all things interweb, it just needs to be filtered through the lens of what is or isn't useful information. Even the brand-bashing posts usually have something valuable in them if you sift through the detritus of hate. However, I get what you are saying. They always devolve into a spitting contest. Haters gonna hate, fan boys will be fan boys regardless.
The fact that they are inherently negative to begin with turns me off. Using the term "rotting" in the title alone was clearly meant to provolk, and it worked. Does BITOG really need stuff like this?
It always confuses me when people click on a thread they clearly aren't interested in, then bash everyone's else's opinion by saying how its a bad thread.I hate these "brand bashing" threads. Whatever the brand. They hurt this forum.
Not trueI still would take a Ram over a Ford, they seem alot more dependable over the long term of ownership.
You can do the exact same with my comments. If you don't like MY opinion, feel free to ignore it. But instead you chose to call me out and bash it. Its an internet forum. You can read, or not read, post or not post.It always confuses me when people click on a thread they clearly aren't interested in, then bash everyone's else's opinion by saying how its a bad thread.

I personally enjoy hearing everyone's opinion. Even if I don't agree with it.
Smells like money going up in smoke. So I am told.I wonder what rotting RAM flesh smells like![]()
It's just an expression; no one really thinks he actually meant they are rotting, for example, like banana peels in a compost pile.Using the term "rotting" in the title alone was clearly meant to provolk, and it worked. Does BITOG really need stuff like this?
Thanks to you, someone who has real world experience with all 3 of the brands when used as they are intended: for work on gravel no less. The company I worked at for 34 years runs 35 to 40 pickups, a mix of 1/2 and 3/4 tons, all V8 4x4s. Tenders are sent out every spring for 5 - 6 new trucks to Ram, GM, and Ford dealers. So a real mix of all three brands and model years. After 300k to 400k km’s of mostly gravel and some off road use they’re sold at auction.
The repairs needed had more to do with how kind or abusive the truck’s operator was more than anything else. Some model years had specific issues; I remember several instrument clusters being replaced on mid 2000’s GMs, and a few model years Rams developed the HEMI lifter tick at high mileage.
The newest Rams, GMs and Fords have all been pretty good, a few random issues fixed under warranty, not specific to any make.
