Lots of AAP Clearance Items

You all might want to call around. I stopped to pick up a few more quarts of the Fram bogo oil, and mentioned the filter sale being over. The clerk looked confused and scanned a Titanium displayed on the counter. It rang up the clearance price. I picked up two more oil filters and a Purolator air filter for less than $12. AAP is different at each store.

Our dirty ancient antique AAP that looks like it has a lift and 3 stalls and was built in the 30’s never has clearance ever.

The newer corporate one in an ancient strip mall usually does but it’s for things nobody would buy, like specialized ATF that is normally $50 a jug and gets marked down to $25, and air fresheners and dollar store junk or a clutch tool for a rare car.

My AAP had some Fram branded oil buy 1 quart get 1 free. Didn’t ask price of quart...oil any good? Might go back if good?

I grabbed some 0W-40 for my 4Runner. It’s API SP and ACEA A3/B4. Made by Amalie. No one on this site seems to take issue with them. PQIA tested a few of their oils and found them to meet the label claims.

Thanks. Good to know.

Sounds like it was a former Western Auto when Advance Auto took them over in the early 2000's. Surprised that is still around in that condition as a couple years after the take over, Advance made most of the legacy Western Auto locations either move out enteriely to a new built store or remodeled them extensively to get rid of the former service bay aspect Western Auto had.

This was today 4/2 for 5W30. I don't know if price varies by weight. They had gobs of 20W50 that honestly I should have grabbed for all the old pushrod V8s I service

FYI several more items are on clearance now.

Most notably Valvoline Full Synthetic Hybrid Transmission Fluid for $1.45/qt. I do have a hybrid and will be adding one to the fleet within the next year so I'll likely use on that but according to the Valvoline website - this is equlivant with Dex VI and quite a few other fluids. Would there be any harm using this in a non hybrid vehicle that accepts one of those fluids?

Other newly discounted Fram products I grabbed
Power Steering Fluid for .85 cents / quart
Octane Booster for $1.35
Carb & Fuel Injector Cleaner - $1.35

I grabbed some of that "hybrid" ATF. Valvoline lists Toyota WS on the specifications.

The Fram Full Synthetic High Mileage 10w30 is also $3.50 or so, and still BOGO. That's not bad for what appears to be good oil on Amalie's website.

Down in the spec section, says it can be used in hybrid and conventional vehicles.

It is BOGO only in person right? Single qts only or jugs too?

I did stop into an Advance last night and they had a single fram 5w40 synthetic jug for $23. I had him scan it twice to see if it would just charge for one. It charged for two. I passed for that price but would have bought if it made the jugs $12 a piece.

BOGO on quarts only. In store and online. You need to add to your cart to see the BOGO.

Only quarts are BOGO. Jugs are still too expensive considering what Quaker State Ultimate Protection or Pennzoil Ultra Platinum is on rollback.

As far as ordering online or doing business on the phone, a lot of it depends on the clerk you get. One store I go to, they are miserable and not much help. At another store, they will let me stand there for thirty minutes and aggregate stock from several different different stores and have it brought there for me to pick up later. At one store yesterday, I got eight quarts of 0W-40 and six quarts of 5W-40 Euro for $25. I don’t know how the clerk did it, but he did. Guy is always great to me.

Ordered 6 random Fram items from an AAP store in Austin for pick-up - "ready in 30 minutes guarantee." 1 hour after order, no pick-up email. I drove to the store. 2 clerks leaning on counters scrolling on phones, I was the only customer in the store. Apparently they don't bother checking for incoming online orders. "Gonna be a while before I find all this stuff" was the guy's response when he finally printed out my order. He disappeared in the back of the store for 10 minutes. Meanwhile I'm going through the shelves, browsing, searching. Found 3 of the 6 Fram items on shelves (Fram Octane Booster, Fram 85W-140 gear oil, Fram fuel system cleaner). He comes back shaking his head, claiming they don't have any of it. I put the 3 things I found on the counter, he canceled the other 3 and I was on my way.

The weirdest thing is that the site only let me order 1 of each. In the store, they had plenty on the shelf. When I left the store, the site updated all 6 items to "Out of stock." There are at least 4 left of each in the store - Fram Octane Booster, 85W-140 gear oil, Fuel system cleaner - labeled at regular prices. I should have asked the clerk scan them to see if they'd ring up at the clearance prices. Oh well...

AZ is the same way-as soon as the employees find out there is a deal on something, they gobble it all up for themselves!

BOGO was showing up for me yesterday but now doesn't seem to be valid unfortunately.

I got distracted and didn't put in an order.
ugh
Yeah you are right. I checked earlier and it was gone. Around us, the best deal seemed to be 10w30. 3.65 plus bogo. I got 6 from Lansdale. Might have seen some near you in glenside

North Wales supposedly has 0w20 and 0W30.
I don't fully trust their inventory system so who knows what they really have. I was in the North Wales story on the weekend disposing of some used oil and I only saw a few bottles of conventional. Maybe they have the synthetic in the back somewhere.
