Thanks for sharing, I grabbed a few oil filters.
You kind of have to follow these threads. IME very few stores properly label clearance stuff, but if you know, take it to the register and chances are it rings up the same as the rest of the country (clearance)My closest AAP has had very little clearance over the last month, mostly Knick knacks and slight markdowns on random small overpriced specialty and toolsets. A few very strange niche items for very specific brands. All fit on a little rolling cart
They completely left California. They priced them selves right out of business here. Priced so high they made Napa look affordableIt won't be long for them and they deserve it for the prices they charge
Sure, that's what it was. Because California can't afford high prices. That's why gas and real estate are some of the lowest in the country there. They completely left California. They priced them selves right out of business here. Priced so high they made Napa look affordable
We can't afford any else after buying gas lolSure, that's what it was. Because California can't afford high prices. That's why gas and real estate are some of the lowest in the country there.
I usually order online, If I walk in with a part number, They lead me to the oil/air filter shelf to "look". The clearance items are seldomly there and then they'll attempt to sell me a similar item at full price. You kind of have to follow these threads. Usually my guys kinda pause and their jaw drops when they see the screen. I make it clear I know what the price is they're seeing because I've had them try to pull the "this must be a mistake" thing. I also use the word CLEARANCE a lot, ie blow it out, make it go away, fire sale, CLEAR the shelves pricing
In the past, I have caught a few stores and their employees try to hide the clearance stuff until they or their buddies can buy it. A few years ago when the Idemitsu oil was being cleared out of Advance Auto for like $4 a jug , I gotten into an argument with a counter jockey because I could clearly see it behind the counter on a side shelf they were hiding it and trying to say it was gone already. Took the manager to step in and make them pull and sell it to me. Got the biggest go to hell looks for that one.I went to pick up my order once and the guy must have recounted and rechecked every item on the ticket for 10 minutes before he finally reluctantly printed the ticket.
This is correct. If you just go into the store you won't find stuff like this. As mentioned, the folks working the store often don't even know these exist. They're usually shocked when I show up and buy stuff crazy cheap from the online pricing. You kind of have to follow these threads. They will hold it for 7 days for a online order and store pick up. If you are wanting more, I would not wait around as most the FRAM clearance stuff is going pretty quick if not gone already for many SKU's .Just picked up an oil filter real cheap. Now I'm wondering if I should have bought more. I ordered online and picked up in the store. Honestly intended to go to Walmart, but it's too close to Christmas.
Was it just pricing or "Smash & Grab" by entitled thugs? We allow it to happen here in Minnesota, just as long as you are entitled, anything is up for grabs here. They completely left California. They priced them selves right out of business here. Priced so high they made Napa look affordable
I don't remember ever hearing of a robbery there. Guess it does happen but they don't sell things most thugs want like shoes and jewelry. Was it just pricing or "Smash & Grab" by entitled thugs? We allow it to happen here in Minnesota, just as long as you are entitled, anything is up for grabs here.
The thing is, I am not seeing the sale prices today from my work PC, and never have. Even logged in. I was at home yesterday when I saw it, logged in from my home PC (and using Linux). Kind of makes me wonder...They will hold it for 7 days for a online order and store pick up. It should show up if you search for "Fram" or "Purolator" along w/air filter, cabin air filter or oil filter. Adding a vehicle will narrow down the offerings. It also allows you to find a store in your vicinity where it should be in stock. The thing is, I am not seeing the sale prices today from my work PC, and never have. Even logged in. Note: Many of the Fram Titanium filter on clearance have poorly stamped louver openings in the center tube. I had to return 3 of them that I ordered online and they gave me a hassle because it was a clearance item (i.e., Manager said no returns/refunds until I showed him the receipt said 30 day returns if defective). He allowed me to exchange them for a different size filter with holes, not louvers.

Examples of "good" and "bad" louvers are discussed and shown in this earlier BITOG post.So I just made the rounds and picked up seven of these filters for our 1999 suburban. What should I be looking for on the Louvre openings? When you say poorly stamped you mean not open as much as they should be?
The Fram Titanium clearance filters that I returned had louver openings that were smaller than those "bad" ones shown in the BITOG post. It is a real concern since it would reduce oil flow by ~2/3rds of the design value and increase the probability of going into bypass mode.Is that concern a nitpicky thing or a real world impact thing?
Same as my plan, but I'm not risking ~67% reduction in oil filtration with the semi-closed louvers.Just bought them because they were three bucks a piece, I'm planning on 3 to 5K oil changes with this thing, or once per year.
