Lost my wife to a drunk driver

The drunk won't serve two years if he is incarcerated. Wish you and others didn't have to go through such a catastrophic occurrence. Find a good counselor to help you through the grieving process.

On the contrary, the perp is looking at ten years mandatory time for whatever the MN equivalent of Agg Vehicular Homicide is. For a man of his age, this is effectively a life sentence.

The intensive care unit is disappointed it could not be utilized heavily or help in saving your wife. It could have bought you some more time to be by her side. This really helps. The worst of the worst is your case and scenario.

Thanks again everyone. Yesterday was pretty rough day. We got all the funeral arrangements finalized and went to see her last time before she's cremated. We also went to the car to get stuff out of it. I went over and had a nice long talk with my next door neighbor last night. He lost his wife about 3 years ago to a heart attack, so he knows what I'm going through.
As far as the other guy that hit her, he's still in critical condition and it sounds like he may not survive either. If he does survive, he'll be charged with criminal vehicular homicide but given his condition I don't know that he'd ever actually be physically able to appear in court. We're meeting with a victims advocate from the County Attorney's office later today, so I might have more information on that later. What he did was horrible, but I can't wish bad on him. He has a family too, and this has to be extremely hard on them as well. I looked up his record, and he's not some repeat offender like it seems they usually are. He doesn't have so much as a speeding ticket or anything on his record. He made a horrible mistake, and if he survives he's going to be paying greatly for the rest of his life whether he goes to jail or not.
This TV station sent out a reporter and camera guy and interviewed me. She's one of their best reporters, she was even getting a bit emotional and gave me a big hug before she left.
