Looking for a new TV

I was out yesterday looking at some TVs,
Sony Bravia 5 definitely caught my eye..

Samsung QN90D an upscale model from last year, was also a nice one..

I also saw the Samsung QN80F.

🤔🤔🤔

I'm still rockin' my Panasonic Plasma from 20 years ago.
My first Olevia 1080i 32 HDTV with integrated stereo and sub woofer that I picked up on clearance at a Big Lots goobs sale with a 20% off coupon for $349 in early 2006 is still running.

My folks got it, then when they upgraded went to the uncle in 2016, he ran it 24/7 in an extremely hot apartment (he refused to turn on ac) after he passed the janitor there got it, the edges are miscolored around the screen assumably due to heat but it’s still going almost 20 years later.

So you only watch DVD's and such?

OTA TV still exists, use a Roku and you can watch OTA, YouTube and dvds , that’s what we do.

Not sure where you are located but in Dallas TX all the 4 major networks are broadcasting ATSC 3 and the ATSC 1 signals.
The only ATSC 3 signal is about 60 miles from here, that single station carries most all of the local channels by itself in 720 or 1080p only.

I wanted to get a receiver but encryption killed that idea. (Can’t watch the only working atsc3 signal)

My post is referring to the fact that very few budget and smaller TVs have an atsc3 tuner.

You also have this… (due to politics and a botched rollout)

You got a discount if your vet at samsung. Costco's doubling manufacturers and and free warranty made that deal nice for me.

I got the sony brava 8ii then ordered speakers directly from samsung. The samsung q990d set was at a good price for military discount. For the TV, I showed the best buy guy the costco price and features. BB was not close. They could not match the price and a no worries warranty for the next 5 years. I don't think these break down much but did not appreciate the short warranty.

I can definitely understand that.. I've been running Samsungs for a long time.. I really think I'm going to get a Sony this time..

The 65" Bravia 8 Mk II is a great deal @ $2,299.99 right now. Once you live with a QD-OLED, you'll see why it's basically the cream of the crop as far as TV tech goes right now. Sure, Micro-LED sets can produce eye-watering levels of brightness, but there's so much more to a television than peak brightness.

The color volume that QD-OLED produces is really a game changer when viewing top-tier content. My personal sets include both a 65" Sony A95L (considered the best OLED TV 2 years running) and a 77" A80K, and while the A80K is certainly produces a beautiful picture the same content displayed on the A95L is on a whole different level.

Your inner voice is telling you to go Sony B8II... you won't regret it.

*Edit* I forgot the OP was looking for a 75/77" TV. Unfortunately, the B8II isn't available in a 77", however the 77" A95L is still available from Best Buy. It's steep... $3,799.99, but it's going to be tough to beat at that size.
