I just changed my oil last night in my 2008 silverado with 22,000 miles, which has ran nothing but PP 5w30 since about the 4,000 mile mark, with shorter change intervals due to break-in....I want to run this next interval as long as I possibly/safely can and then do a UOA including TBN. Im just wondering what is the longest anyone on this forum has run this oil? What was your TBN? I hope my grammar, and punctuation are correct? The last time I made a post using too many periods.............................................................................to end a sentence, the grammar police got worried. -Ponch

As for the longest, I have seen 16,000 Miles somewhere on here, but not UOA.

I myself have not run it longer that 6,000 Miles but it seems to hold up extremely well for that long.

I would use it for 10,000 Miles with a good filter and send for a UOA I would imagine it would be fine in that engine.

My dad ran PP in his V8 Tundra for 15603 miles once, and I sampled the oil at the end. TBN was 2.90 which is fine, but Oil Analyzers flagged Nitration and Oxidation as being critical (both were "32"), their highest warning. Wear was higher than usual for him, but still exceptionally low overall.

I have done 10K mi with PP in a Camry with 1.3 of TBN left.

But I think that TBN was killed by the use of two bottle of Regane mid OCI.

A subsequent run of 7.5K mi with no Regane returned a TBN of 3.0.

From the UOAs I've seen, PP is an excellent synthetic but, not noted as a long-life oil. I think I would creep up on it using UOAs of 7,000, then 10,000 and adjust the OCI based on your driving.

I don't think it's targeted as an extended drain oil. YMMV on how long it lasts in service for TBN. It's not alone. GC is like that too. Some can barely get 10k out of it with relatively mild service. Others do better.

Dude! Don't worry about the Grammar Gestapo! You have a truck with a built in OLM. I myself like the idea of suscribing to it. Why not? Ain't never heard of GM truck engines failing because the OLM was followed. Heck most folks run conventional and follow the light! If you really wanna go far PM one of our semi-fabulous Amsoil oil dealers(Gary Allan being one). I bet that dude could hook you up with an oil that will go 25000 miles/1 year!

I got PP in the Focus right now. I plan on going 6000 then calling Pablo and getting some of that fabulous 0w20. Not to sound like an Amsoil advertisement but that particular oil company was doing extended drains before I was ever thought of!

How far do you really wanna go? I bet PP will safely go 7500-10000 miles easy. There are a few PP runs of 9000+ in the UOA section if I remember correctly. And my memory is bout as good as me grammer. Which is pretty darn good if I do say so myself.

I am going 7000 mile OCI's in my 2006 Honda Odyssey. The OLM still shows 15%, and it's noteworthy it (the OLM) is probably assuming dino oil anyway. I am very comfortable with the 7000 OCI.

Would M1 5W20 or 0W20 go 13k miles or 1 year of just highly driving? Filter will also be M1. I am talking about the regular M1 and not the yellow cap extended stuff.

PP and the Mobil 1 filter are a great combo. I would do a UOA at about 7500 miles and check how far you can stretch it if any from there. JMO

I am curious, Why would you say you would run it for 10,000 miles, if you yourself have never run it more than 6,000 miles.

I haven't run it for this long because I have only used it for an ARX treatment, however from what I have read here and seen on the UOA's I would and will try it after my ARX treatment is through.

I was thinking the same thing as I was going to try this oil in my new Toyota SUV V-8?

I usually run Amsoil 0W-20 Sig Series oil for 1 year intervals (about 10-12K) and Its known for extended and yearly oil changes by them, BUT no where does it say that on the Penz Plat web site and they dont say their oil is for extended use-----so whats the thought on yearly oil changes with PP?

I agree 100 percent. This is about the best response I've seen on this site in a long time.
The OLM in your truck was designed and tested with dino oil. There shouldn't be any problem going the distance with PP.

If it makes you nervous - do as Demarpaint mentioned earlier - do an UOA at about 7500 miles or so and go from there.
At another forum I belong too - a member took his Trailblazer with I6 engine out to about 12K miles using dino oil and the UOA came back great.

After 3,000 miles it starts to burn off pretty rapidly.

So I just change it every 3k since it sees lots of short stops and hot ambient temps.

I run Pennzoil Plat 5W40 in an Audi 1.8 T, 7500 miles, TBN 3.5, German Castro 0W30 only had a TBN of 2.1 after 5000 miles in same engine, just my two cents
