2 bottle of redline fuel inject cleaner,
1 empty 4 gallon of fuel ( will fill up about 2 gallon in it )
Latest insurance cart and paper work print out.

brake is good, did the flush 2 month ago, new ford oem pcv and a filter under it 2 month ago.

Where will you fit anything else in a Mustang carrying all that stuff?

I always carry an extra quart of oil in my vehicles, despite having never owned a vehicle that consumed large amounts of oil.

Ok, find out what the tire air pressures are and make sure both front tires are the same and both back tires are the same.

Rotate & balance the tires?

How about an alignment??

Filling up a gas can half full and storing it in a car is a very bad idea, especially in hot weather. Leave it empty for your safety and have the can just in case. 1000 mile round trip is not that long, only about 16 hours so just watch your gas gauge.

Also you have 30 days to renew your sticker after it expires so you should be fine, at least thats how it is up here.

Add a couple of gallon jugs of drinking water. If you pop a hose, it will take more than one gallon of coolant. In this heat, you can never have too much water to drink. 2 gallons should do it.
Don't forget a basic first aid kit and include some Benadryl (Bug bites etc.) and some kind of antiseptic ointment. Believe me, even though hopefully you won't need em', you can be a real hero for someone else that'll need em'
Have a fun safe trip!

ah, I never have space problem with mustang, it actually have bigger trunk space then my camaro.

MetalSlug, if inspection sticker is only $5 may as well do it now. What states are you cruising through? Take some jerky and trail or granola bars as well. Hope you have a great time and take plenty of pics (I'm assuming you'll use your iPhone since there is no camera on your list).

How much do you use this car?
Seems like a lot of emergency gear for a relatively short trip in a country where you'd be hard pressed to get out of cell phone range.
I've put 2300 miles on my old BMW since I changed the oil on 6/3, and the only thing I ever carry with me is the rudimentary tool kit attached to the deck lid that used to come on BMWs, and I took along a quart of Durablend 10W-40 for our 500 mile trip last weekend, since I thought I might need it (didn't), it is basically Maxlife without the moly and I refuse to pay normal store prices for oil.
My BMW is in its third season of warm weather daily driver use, so I do have a good idea as to its overall condition, it does get regular maintenance, and it has proven its reliability.
1000 miles is not that many. I drive more than that every month, but then I don't have two Mustangs and three Camaros over which to spread my driving.

Your MS inspection is only required in MS, if you check any other states rules they will say cars registered out-of-state don't need to be inspected there. (or anywhere).

Unless you need your inspection to keep your registration valid.

+3 on not carrying gas. I would buy a new one gallon gas can (so it doesn't have fumes) and carry it empty or fill it with emergency water.

A lot of problems can be solved with a cellphone and/or smartphone. Do you have a code reader for that OBDI system? Don't expect too many other garages to have that, unless they love fords.

Are you that irresponsible that you ate going to run out of gas and need to carry 2 gallons in it??!?

Are you suggesting bringing another jack on top of the tire changed that the car comes with?

I personally like to have my tire changing gear (that came with the vehicle is good enough), a ratchet set and a screwdriver with changeable bits.

If you actually need substantially more tools than that you're either going to not have the spare part required or will need to go to another place anyway so you can get other tools and whatnot.

I do usually carry a gallon of water on a trip, in case I was ever to loose coolant. But it doubles as drinking water at some point on the trip.

An extra qt of oil is good, but if you bust something bad enough to need to replace a lot of oil before you can get to a store, you have bigger issues.

JavierG Yes I be using my iphone 4gs, it have really good quality picture and I can upload to my FB right away

fdcg27 : I use the mustang 3 time a week, and another camaro on the rest, and the truck I just bought some time. I try use the mustang alot this week to monitor the condition of it, if anything I feel wrong, i fix it before the trip

Actually we be crusing to the famous mustang shop in dallas, some mustang will get dyno tune and part install. and stop by houston tx , Its going to be hot weather, and im no plan on using ac, window down the whole day

Few year back we cruising , and my gas guard stuck at 1/4 , ran out off gas, lucky we have a guy in our crew carry some gas with him. from that way I alway carry a little bit of gas, but yea 2 gallon is little over kill.

and I seen a guy in our crew blow out the oil filter and lucky I carry an extra oil filter and we end up put all our oil together to made up the oil he lost. so yea from that day I alway carry an extra oil filter and at least 2 quart of oil

and about the jack and tool, my car dont come with it, so I just have to use one out off my camaro. and carry my 250 peice of craftman mechanic tool

I should be ok, since we all going driving same type of cars, and we not going alone, about 15 peoples going on this trip.

So far, most of what I can think of is covered. You should have enough stuff to make some sort of cross-country post-apocalyptic sci-fi movie type trip.

(kidding)

The only things I would add is a fire extinguisher (I try to keep one in each of our cars). Hey, I only had to use it once in almost 40 years of driving, and that was for somebody else's car, but you never know...

Oh, and tunes, good driving tunes. I'd recommend some, but I have a rather unusual taste in music.

Good Luck and Happy Motoring

Haha I love those type of movie, mad max !!

+1.
Just as you would be hard pressed to get out of cell phone range in this country, you'd also be hard pressed to be out of low fuel light driving range of a gas station.
I'd be more concerned about having some good maps for the areas through which you'll drive than anything else.
If anything really serious happens, it won't be a roadside repair in any event, and a map showing you the quickest route to the nearest town might be invaluable.
I personally prefer a map to a GPS.
