Light switch only works in the middle

If it is a switch used for building lighting control, it is probably defective. Replace it ASAP.

It's probably arcing and ready to start a fire in the middle position...I am dead serious. If this is a house switch, why is it in the maintenance forum?

Worn out. Almost impossible to miswire a single pole switch. Replace ASAP.

A single pole switch can be had for less than $1 at pretty much any store. Just replace it.
