Lets talk about new vehicles

The Mitsubishi at my dealer went up $1800 and we are still talking 2024 models.....

@Hermann
My Maverick seat issue is the left side hamstring hits a high spot on the seat against the door side...in a driving postion.
The other side isn't an issue ( next to the console)

Is yours like that..it may still need breaking in.
Hey Z, I have not noticed anything in the seats that causes discomfort. My only complaint is the padding is a bit soft. But 300 mile days have not caused any discomfort.

Weird, my padding is stiff and it's like you are sitting on top not sitting softly in them...hmmmm

This dang thread isn't contributing to me staying out of debt or keeping my savings intact. UGH....

I keep finding myself, hitting Ford Dealership websites, looking at inventory. Found the new truck I really want at two dealerships and they are 2024's, on great clearance prices.

An F250 4x4 with 6.8L Mini-zilla, Super Cab with 6'4" bed is my Huckleberry! I want the short wheelbase for town driving, yet the ability to tow when I need it.

There are some 2024 F250 XL's that are marked down, below $50k. Which seems like a great price when the truck sitting right beside it in a Diesel and fancy bells and whistles is over $100k. (Blows my mind how someone would pay $100k for a pickup.)

Have ford addressed the roller lifter oiling issues on these new big pushrod engines? Hear talk of high failure rate on the web. Maybe like Dodge, Inadequate oiling if idled long onsite with w/t.
I was looking at 2wd std cab w/t base, still priced mid 30's - Way too much for that recycled Pepsi can.

I can put a new rebuilt reliable engine, a reman trans and rear axle in a 90's squarebody for much less and the insurance bill and excise is nothing

Wow I was looking for the exact same truck...I was at $52k and was going for the 179 tax code but I put it off until next year.

I have 30,000+ on my Class C RV with the 7.3L and I flippin love this engine. Zero issues with me.

If I could find a F350 SuperCab with 6' bed and the 7.3L I would be ALL OVER it immediately, but I cannot find that Unicorn anywhere.

The 148" Wheelbase is a very rare F250 with rear seat. This shorter wheelbase will make for a great off-road, overlanding base rig.

It’s a shame they are such guzzlers, because my GX460 is the most comfortable road cruiser I’ve ever owned. I can eke 20+ out of it but with wife doing short trips around down its lucky to hit 14mpg. Thankfully we still have Old Bessie (the 2005 Odyssey) to share daily driver duties. But honestly, the van only gets about 16 around down with our usage, so it’s not a big MPG upgrade from the GX.

That is why I bailed because I had the first 7.3 L gas in 2020 and had issues with very rough idling and later coil packs that couldn't be found then..cv19 days

The dealership was worthless, it's all on here somewhere

Wait! You can't have car problems!
I am the scape goat here for car problems, and It's usually all my fault because no one else has problems. Just little old me.

Funny I didn't kill my Rogue though. I don't get major credit for that for some reason. LOL.

It never blew up anything and I made out on it but the intro date and cv19 made it tough to resolve

Sheet happens eh???

So that newer Ford pushrod motor has a variable displacement oil pressure pump.

Electronically lowering oil pressure at idle for better efficiency....that's one thing on a commuter vehicle, but on a platform that see's a ton of commercial use?.....That's one of those things that makes me sigh out loud. Further digging shows folks installing a manual oil pressure gauge and finding 20 psi hot idle pressure. This is apparently the pressure on the ones that don't have a problem / pre ford update fix. Could not find psi reading for the folks that have damages.

Trying to find a new, blue, ford or ram, 1 ton, regular cab, with 8 foot box, and 4x4. Ridiculous that they're not all over.

I think I read hot idle of 6 psi inadequate to oil lifters.

No ticket for me today.......
I have been driving in MD for 47 years without a speeding ticket.

I took out the new 💩 mobile today..
(Mitsu?)
I was going down our route 273 and it's country no cars around and big wide shoulders. I usually drive like a
Security camera scanning gauges etc every few seconds...

This time I was listening to the news and zoned out....I looked down at the turd meister was doing 70 mph in a 50 zone... ever since they recalibrated the power train this thing wants to sit at 70 mph.

I was coming quickly to a grange on the side of the road where cops sit. I didn't bother slowing down as he would already have me... a cop was there and as I went by at 70 he just looked and I looked at him and he never came after me...In MD. They will nail you for 5mph... lucky day.

I needed to make some corrections. So I watched a video of a Ford technician talking about his experience with the problem so far. Apparently the correct Ford spec is supposed to be around 8psi hot idle pressure.....upon further reading, the 20 to 22 psi I said above was actually guys using some sort of electronic gauge / transducer (read this on a Ford forum). This particular transducer also accounts for the atmospheric pressure....which would roughly be around 14 psi....which makes the 20 to 22 psi read on gauge actually be around 6-8psi of oil pressure. Which is in line for what Ford originally programmed the vehicles for.

......If that makes sense. In short the 20 to 22 psi they were reading electronically actually needed to have 14psi subtracted from it for actual real oil pressure reading.

Also - That Ford tech said if you are outside of the warranty, he recommended NOT doing the standard work they perform for "in warranty repair". Which is only the camshaft...lifters, ect. He said from what they have experienced on that "standard in warranty job", it's only been getting them an additional 60k to 80k miles out of the motor. Enough to get it past warranty.
His recommendation if out of warranty was to just go ahead and buy a new short block or even new a long block o_O. The cam & lifter metal going through the motor tears them up, un-surprisingly.

This morning I did a 22.3 mile drive and 17 of that was on the interstate.
2 lights, 4 stop signs and no auto start stop as Mitsubishi doesn't have it. I was shocked as I got a trip average at 34.7 mpg for the trip...

It has 1350 miles on it. It may become a Florida trip cruiser after all.

Nice! they are pretty efficient before they get carboned up and the 02 sensors coated with ash.

What is this beast anyhow. I must have missed it.
