Back in the early days after 1982 and onward the TH700R4 and in modern times but I no longer work on any my brother goes through late model GM transmission at the same rate without towing etc .... most contractors have similar stories...
My nephew has swapped out many late models in the fleet including two of his own although I'm long removed from the versions.
Same issues with the 4L60E in the 90s onward. I think this one was phased out in 2014 or 15

In my area up north with the rolling hills there is nothing smoother than a CVT... Unlike the complainers I never notice any negatives and to get the most out of one that doesn't require stomping on the gas which is a big fail....

Brought my new lease Fake Jeep in for excessive engine noise concern. After about an hour wait, the service writer came back and said the tech didn't hear anything. They said the oil level was good. Duh. Some kid with about 2 years experience. I saw him drop if of the end of the ramp lift backing it out. Got the car back for the drive home now the EPS is wonky - steering darting left or right. Unsafe. Thanks a lot Stellantis. More than a complete waste of time. Figuring out my next plan of attack.

The new Honda CVT is an absolute gem. I'm not sure if it's a proper CVT actually - the system is sort of different from conventional ones.
Tried the Civic Hatchback Hybrid when I was shopping around and it felt close in behavior to a manual, which is high praise in my book. Now, that civic is a 2.0 so I'm not sure where it stands vs the previous ones.

A few Corolla SE reviews popped up on YT recently and I ended up watching them.
My first new car out of college I went with a Corolla. I chose it because I was driving 50k miles a year. The car did not disappoint.
I would argue that the Corolla SE non hybrid is the best new car or one of the best you can buy on the market right now if reliability and price is top concern.
2.0 with port AND DI. NA.
CVT with a 1st gear.
No oil consumption issues.
$26k

I agree, but it's either very slow, either very loud, or both. Otherwise it's a beautiful car.
0-60 is about 7.2. Not too bad imo.

On regular gas non-hybrid ?0-60 is about 7.2. Not too bad imo.
